Strictly Come Dancing

With all the money the BBC has, surely they could be arsed to make the results show live, which X Factor does. A £5 billion a year budget, and they can't afford the results show to air properly live.

The illusion is broke, as 99% know it is pre-recorded the night before, and many people can access the results from 11.00pm on the Strictly Spolier blog website.

I remember in 2008, after the first year of doing a pre-recorded results show they moved the results show back into Saturday night as one continued live show lasting nearly three hours. Now that is overkill, but the Saturday night result show should return in 2019.

It’s not broke so why fix it?

The result never seems to leak out in the press and unless you really go digging on social media or wherever you won’t find out the result ahead of broadcast.

They don’t need to maintain an illusion because it doesn’t seem to matter much.

Hi

The result is not that hard to find on line not long after the show has been recorded, and the reason they cannot do it live on Sunday is because Bruno is a Judge on Dancing With The Stars in the US so he has to fly out on Sunday as I think the show in the USA is broadcast live on a Monday Evening/

ITV abandons the South Bank

Before WWII there were plans well underway to extend the Northern Line to Elstree (in fact I believe the lines are still half built underground) with the intention of serving new housing estates planned for the area. However building work stopped during the war and the Attlee government of 1945 introduced legislation which limited the expansion of urban areas into rural towns and so the station was scrapped.

Hi

Not sure if its possible from a technical point of view as I cannot remember if the line was already electrified, but if it is could some thing like the Tyne and Wear metro extension to Sunderland that runs the metro trains on the same lines as the main line trains (not at the same time of course) this would be a cheaper way to extend services on this line, and I would think there would be demand, not only for audience attendance to both the studios there but for general commuting to London.

ITV abandons the South Bank

Stratford from SW London isn't that bad, nice fast tube from Waterloo, and soon on Crossrail I think.

If itv does set up in Stratford its very unlikely they'd have a general purpose studio like they did in the south bank

As well as Sky, Elstree and Pinewood are pigs to get to

Hi

I don't know about pinewood and Sky as I have never been to a show in either of these studios, but Elstree is not that hard to get to from Central London, We stayed there a few years back and used it as a base to visit London to, its has its own rail station that is the last on line you can use your travel ticket on, as I don't like driving in London we parked at the station, and then travelled into London. but we could have also used a good local bus service, but walking from the station to and from both the BBC Elstree site and Elstree Studios is also possible as its not a long distance to them.

ITV abandons the South Bank

I went to the first recording of Grownups (the BBC3 Sheridan Smith/Susan Nickson vehicle that wasn't Two Pints at all, definitely not) which went on for ever and ever. SS didn't half fluff her lines. Luckily the up-and-coming warmup was one Jason Manford who kept everything ticking along nicely.

Conversely when I saw the Lottery: Jet Set there were some audience members who were determined to take a loo break despite the show only being about 40 mins long, and after being hushed back to their seat ended up noisily climbing over the barriers at the back while the draw was taking place live on air...

(this was a few weeks before Fathers4Justice-gate so perhaps unsurprising the audience could move about uninhibited!)

Hi

Well I would have been happy to sit there and watch SS fluff them lines as many times as she wanted to (yes I am a big SS fan Smile ))

Saturday Night Takeaway 2018

http://metro.co.uk/2018/04/02/dec-planning-friends-tribute-best-pal-ant-final-saturday-night-takeaway-episode-7434138/

The tabloids are reporting that in the Florida show, Dec will perform the Friends theme "I'll Be There for You" with The Rembrandts as a tribute to Ant. It may not be true, but The Rembrandts are definitely going to be there for Singalong Live according to ITV.

Hi

To be honest if the Rembrandts are there for sing a long live, they would have to sing ill be there for you as this is about the only one of there song a British contestant is likely to know any of the words to, and the boys always join in the last verse after the 3 rounds with the contestants, so theirs nothing unusual here really. So just the tabloids reading more into it than there actually is again then.

Saturday Night Takeaway 2018

Most of the posts here seem to be concentrating on Ant. however the effects on poor Dec, who is not only Ant's work colleague but his mate. We can only imagine the stress of dealing with the fall out from ITV, but also wanting to support his mate, and although he is a professional, stepping out on that stage live a week Saturday without Ant is going to be I would think very difficult for him, and once SNT is over he will have to make some big decisions on how he is going to handle the rest of this year. As I cannot see Ant being well enough to be back working until sometime in 2019.

ITV have recommissioned Blankety Blank

It'll be Keith Lemon's Blankety Blank surely?

Stephen Mulhern 1/2
Keith Lemon 4/1
Bradley Walsh 5/1
David Walliams 6/1
Greg Scott 10/1
Sean Fletcher 25/1
Alastair Stewart 50/1
The Ghost of Les Dawson 100/1
Ben Shephard 2000/1

The Ghost of Les Dawson would be infaiantly better than any of the others, and remember this might no be as far fetched as you think remember ITV did bring Les Back in 3d for the Audience with that was never made.
