The dream for me would be any full themes / packages from:

Top Of The Pops (all years)
The Games (channel 4 athletics game show)
The Weakest Link
Pop Idol
Popstars
Big Brother (1st 4 years 2000 - 2004)

any help on those would be greatly appreciated.

Seen as there's only a week left of TV Forum (very sad Crying or Very sad ), I thought now might be a good chance to try your luck as you never know, a member of this forum might be able to help out.

Next week we'll lose this incredible space for sourcing tracks, whether it be physical MP3's or just a link to the artist and title if available. If there's any tracks you've been after for a while or if there's a tune that you just need identifying - give this a go! One last chance of being able to ask whether one of TV Forum's members can help you out.

Please remember to be polite, no requests for library music and do not give out library music.

Let's have one last week of fun and discovery, hopefully bring a smile to our fellow member faces before this ability is gone for good!

I'll start us off with a few which are on my metropol account:

The Masked Singer (Full Theme) : https://up.metropol247.co.uk/bbpro/The%20Masked%20Singer%20(Full%20Theme).mp3

Big Brother : https://up.metropol247.co.uk/bbpro/Big%20Brother.zip

BBC Olympics 2012 : https://up.metropol247.co.uk/bbpro/BBC%20Olympics%202012%20-%20End%20Titles%20(PPM6).wav

Sky News 2005 (Main Titles & Bed) : https://up.metropol247.co.uk/bbpro/Sky%20News%20-%202005%20-%20Main%20Ident%20Into%20Bed%201%20-%20Pacey.mp3

I'll try to help where I can with any requests.

…and finally

Well done ASA! It will be a shame to see it go but completely understand your reasoning.

Like others in this topic, I don’t post often but can honestly say it’s been my most visited site over the past 20 years! I’ll check in multiple times a day enjoy reading through the range of discussions taking place.

I’ll miss the expertise of those who work in the industry who know how things work and are great at knowing what’s actually going on behind the scenes, the creativity of the mock artists who have had an audience who could give them genuinely valuable feedback, often because they have a background of working in tv presentation.

The requests forum where members have been genuinely helpful in sourcing music tracks when you have an ear-worm that just won’t go away and the general topic forum where you never know what you might find but often was a way of finding out about new and upcoming programming.

Thank you so much Asa for creating such a wonderful forum and good luck with your future endeavours!

TOTP Graphics

Some reflection on whether the track has moved up or down the charts or whether it’s a new entry. Often an up or down arrow or NEW ENTRY written. Also a dash (-) for a non-mover.

Where do TV shows obtain instrumentals?

Simple answer: from the Labels/Producers of the respective tracks and/or Copyright holders.

Further to robharrison’s response, often music publishing companies used to send out ‘promo cd’s’ of upcoming new releases for productions to use. These would normally contain a radio edit and an instrumental.

Nowadays producers of programmes have access to a dedicated website for the music publishers where they can log in, find the track they’re after and download the tracks. The website will show all of the different versions of the track available (most will have an instrumental) and tune ID’s for the production team to include on their MCPS music cue sheets.

The BBC World News Thread

The Christmas trees are too subtle this year, can’t see them in any shot other than the newsroom wide.

I’m sure you were able to at least see them on the presenter + screen shot previously?

Christmas Presents 2020

Hi Everyone,

Hope you're all getting in to the Christmas spirit! I think we all could do with something to look forward to this year and I for one always enjoy the 'Christmas presents' thread each year.

To get us started, I've uploaded a few treats including selections from Big Brother, One Born Every Minute, The Crystal Maze, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire 2020 and the BBC 2012 Olympic theme.

Enjoy!

Not sure ‘Soaps’ was the best episode to start on.

I’m not sure I like it, looks a bit rushed and I don’t get why the title appears to be in what appears to be a mobile phone / iPad black outer square? For a programme that isn’t about what people are looking at on the internet / phone, looks a bit odd.

Does Newswatch = Points of View?

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but surely another factor is the budget for the programmes and which pot of funding the programme falls under.

I’m pretty sure that Points Of View is made by BBC Studios so will have their own overall spending budget whereas Newswatch is a BBC News production so falls under a completely different budget.
