Channel 5 general discussion

We got Catherine Jones for 5 news at 5 instead of Peter lane in Leeds

Peter Lane was supposed to be in Manchester not Leeds. Looks like a last minute issue, 5news’ Twitter mentioned it about 20 minutes before 5pm and even the announcement over the preceding ident mentioned it was “from Manchester”

BBC North West Tonight

On the first day in Salford, the breakfast bulletins actually used a wider shot of that studio at the start and end, but that didn't seem to last very long (not sure if they even used the wide shot after the first day).

Channel 5 general discussion

Just a minor observation about Channel 5: Like the BBC, Channel 5 appear to be pushing the fact you can watch their channel's online though My5.

Recently, announcements over idents have increasingly started to mention My5 ("now on Channel 5, and My5..."), but this week all trailers seem to have also now started to include a mention My5 (similar to BBC who have "...on BBC One and I player").

All trailers, if they don't already mention the fact you can "stream the full series now on My5", now have "and stream on My 5" (or if they are really short of time, just "and My5") with an on-screen mention to match.

TV Whirl - Celebrating 20 Purple Years

Wow - revision 1. I don’t think I have much left of the early versions of my sites (perhaps on some ancient pc hard drive somewhere there’ll be some of the original graphics, but no webpages). Happy 20th, here’s to another 20!

…and finally

Well, it's taken me a couple of days to get over the shock and devastation. it's strange to think that TV Forum has been there for over half my life (just), and whilst these days I'm no longer a prolific poster (if I ever was), it's still been a part of my daily life. Through the ups, downs, crashes and controversies (the forum's, not my life) it's been one hell of a time. There's been friends made, people who've come and gone through the years, and an amazing wealth of knowledge shared.

While the biggest thanks goes to Asa and the numerous moderators over the years, a special thanks has to go out to all the members and contributors as well as TV Forum would not be the place it is without you.

I'm absolutely terrible at goodbyes, and while it is a goodbye, I hope there will still be a place for us all to chat about (one of our) our favourite geeky subject, and so it won't completely the end.

So I think, all I can say at this point is: so long, and thanks for all the fish.

Channel 5 Christmas 2020

Channel 5's Christmas idents have launched and are based on their standard idents, but with christmassy images in the "light show" around the edges. rather nice. these are also featured on trailers.

Presentation beyond the idents

No, didn't finish it properly! I was going to say it probably had it before 1996 as well...

Presentation beyond the idents

To be fair though, Channel 4 did the "logo in a circle" thing a year before Channel 5 launched.

Local TV

JAS84 posted:
Which apparently they are. Ashley, according to this article, that entire schedule is an hour out.
https://rxtvinfo.com/2020/local-tv-operator-cuts-local-news-to-15-minutes-a-day

I’m guessing that article is based on the That’s TV’s website’s TV guide which doesn’t seem take account of British Summer Time.

The TV guide on the Freeview website matches with what my EPG says. Of course I’ve not actually watched the channel to check, so the EPG could be an hour out for all I know.

Jewellery Channel 9am to 3pm
That’s 70s from 3pm To 11pm (With 15 minutes of Headline news at 6pm)
That’s 80s 11pm to 9am.

Weekend is the same but no headline news.

BBC North West Tonight

Another special set of titles tonight for a special programme to mark 100 days since lockdown started. Not in the usual format, and I assume the somber version of the theme tune.

Also, as there was no news in the programme tonight, they’ve produced a short 3 minute online edition of the programme;
