to me, this is a step backwards from the current design. it seems much less imaginative, and I already really don't like the way you only see one news story now. the follow my interests feature seems good, but it could have easily been implemented in the current design to much better effect. the gradients all over look really tacky and dated, and the header looks really messy and clunky to me - the positioning of the text only links looks bad, and I don't understand why they've changed the header of the page when the current, non-beta one hasn't even been fully rolled out yet.
oh, and the 'media zone' is definitely not as good as the existing feature area - I already miss the rotating colours that really made the old homepage design unique.
really disappointing - I hope it gets tweaked like hell before it is eventually officially released.

Channel4.com

4oD application is to close in July, but the archives will be implemented into channel4.com

I have to say, I'm finding myself using the Channel 4 website so much more often since the redesign - the homepage inparticular is so unique to C4.

that's strange - that story was the main technology headline on the homepage, and now it's disappeared from there and the news technology section.
maybe it'll launch later today, and the news story was published too early?

Channel4.com

sorry to bring this back, but i thought there were a few things that might need picking up on.

new 4od catch-up is much improved over the old offering, and works seamlessly with the new programmes pages. i actually think I prefer these to the bbc /programmes sites, as they have a lot more information and just feel a lot nicer. the urls are also much better.

there's also a channel4.com blog at platform4, which is a nice read.

overall though, I'm really impressed and it's grown on me massively. the homepage is really unique and suits channel 4 perfectly.

The Sport Thread

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/7856459.stm

BBC have retained the rights to the Premier League up to 2013, and interestingly, from 2010, Match of the Day 2 only will be available on iPlayer.

I wonder why that doesn't stretch to MOTD? O.o

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here

please tell me that i'm not the only one that found david whatever unbearably annoying on the show last night?
he was getting beyond ridiculous, and was just generally a massive hypocrit. he was complaining about the selfish celebrity attitude, 'me me me', and then acted like a spoilt brat when he actually reached the camp.
to make matters worse, i have absolutely no idea who he is |:

and, the bbc switch site looks absolutely terrible. why is the homepage so spread out and bare?
they've really messed up as far as switch is concerned.

New Look Five?

Well, they did it at 10 last time.

Was that when they showed Saving Private Ryan?

That was when they introduced 'five' for that film, but left the old (5) breakbumpers etc in, and then by the next Monday it became five as we and you know it.

I think he meant this:

i completely forgot how good that was.
i think, really, we can say whatever we want about 'five' but at the end of the day, the idents were very professional, pretty unique and interesting, and they just seemed to work.
the rest of the presentation, sadly, didn't live up to them.

i have pretty high hopes for this rebrand though!

haven't seen this before, apologies if it's already been posted...

looks pretty nice, even if it does follow the general style.
