Former Granada TV site in Quay Street to become new theatre

Of course it can take another theatre - btw you forgot to mention Bolton's acclaimed Octagon Theatre!!!! Bolton alone has 3 theatre's (Octagon, Little and Albert Halls as well as Farnworth Little) - so yes us in the north west are very arty and do appreciate theatres just as much as what Southerners do!

BBC One

In what way does it still favour the South - in fact it is very generic! Shocked

Premier League 2016-2019 Rights

Well all Dutch, French, German, Italian, Dutch, US and Australian games are televised (and in fact Sky is the major broadcaster for both German and Italian markets!!!)

Christmas presentation thread

Well I saw the Coke trucks ad, for first time this year, on Channel 5 during "Under The Dome" last night - brought a wry smile knowing it was the start of the festive season Smile

Was it cynicism or just awful spelling for Wales/Wails?

Channel 5

They could do with picking up a couple of series' that Sky have dropped like The Smoke or The Starlings, which were great dramas.

Or even reviving/remaking a series such as Families for a 9pm weekly slot, or even Kings Oak for 2x60 minute episodes a week, or co-producing shows like a limited return of The Bill (go back to basics of 13 episodes a year) or take on board the recently ended Law & Order:UK or even make a new version of Van Der Valk!

The problem with the channel is that they do have a decent catalogue of programmes but just misplace them so they get lost amongst the drivel and then not properly advertised as to when new episode are being shown - for instance last couple of series' of Cowboy Builders which I found by accident.

Channel 5

Viacom is in it for long-term and for the money - They have even stated that one of their first aims is to get ahead of Channel 4 in the ratings and if that means going in direct competition with evening soaps and new then so be it.

Coronation Street

It doesn't surprise me, as I first heard the rumours about 3 weeks ago.

That's a turn up for the books. I wonder what the development company that now owns the Old Granada Studios site (Allied London) thinks of this, and how will this affect their plans to ultimately tear down the old Corrie set and defunct studios for redevelopment?

I don't think they will be too bothered at moment as they are currently building a new office block in Spinningfields (basically across the road from Granada) and they are currently demolishing another old office block in Spinningfields and I will be moving out of my current office (Astley House - also home to the old Sports Café) next Thursday to a new office in the Piccadilly area as Allied London will be demolishing it and rebuild a new office block - plus they are currently renting some of the old office block on temporary basis such as a new coffee shop at the Granada reception! So whilst they are making money, from the OGS, while the other building work is taking place, they will be happy!

Bolton Central Library - wasn't that used for Jim's court after the failed bank robbery - which coincidentally was filmed opposite the library in what was then empty closed Barclays branch (but is now the home of Bolton News)?

The Sport Thread

I am still suffering from the one-digit out on sky sports and keep going to the wrong channels! Too many years of the old numbering, me thinks!

BBC Music - 27 acts, one song, Tuesday 8pm across the BBC

If not TOTP the how about The O-Zone?

But at least we still have Jools Holland's show, although I still that as a modern version of The Old Grey Whistle Test!
