Sky News: Presentation Discussion

Boulton and Co do use a television screen instead of split screen when conducting interviews, and I think Murnaghan does as well.

I wish they'd use that in normal bulletins too.
Anything to stop them split-screening....... Mad

What's wrong with split screens? Surely it's the easiest and clearest way to see both a presenter and the guest, or both of the guests?

Sky News: Presentation Discussion

I personally think that the current style is the best, and the most serious, Sky have ever done. Atlantic and Sky News are the only channels that seem to have survived and prospered presentation-wise since the corporate rebrand in 2010/11.

News International and BSkyB

You have to ask do Ofcom have the balls to do it. I imagine going up against News Corp alone is hard enough, let alone when there's a pro-Murdoch government in power.

News International and BSkyB

Lee M posted:
I think it is a possibility (albeit very remote) that the Government may prod Ofcom to declare the Murdochs not to be fit and proper holders of a broadcasting licence, which would mean in order for Sky to continue broadcasting, News Corp would have to divest either all of their shares, or enough of them so that they no longer hold a significant influence over the management of the company.

This being the same government that was pushing for the Sky takeover to go ahead, led by a Prime Minister who had Christmas dinner with the Brooks family? Not to mention the way the BBC has been handled by Hunt & Co.

The suggested outcome at the moment is that Ofcom might force News Corp to reduce its percentage of shares, in a similar way to how it made Sky sell its shares in ITV a few years ago. The effect being, it will lose influence, lose more of its UK business and would struggle to force through its own agenda on the board.

The Voice UK

That has been the BBC's excuse for overrunning - but it's rubbish really. Just because ITV moved BGT to 8.30pm doesn't mean the BBC had to finish The Voice by 8.30pm - and even if they did they could have begun The Voice at 6.50pm as F1 qualifying could have begun 10 minutes earlier. Similarly on the Sunday they could have aired a 2-hour F1 show (as they did for earlier Sky rounds) then 20 minutes of news and ditched the 45 minute Countryfile compilation.

I think the BBC is contractually obligated as part of the Sky-BBC F1 deal to show F1 highlights at prime time as a 90-minute show instead of 2 hours. The reason the earlier races were 2-hours was because they were earlier in the day. All of the evening highlight shows are to be 90 minutes from what I have read.

Sky News: Presentation Discussion

This looks In my opinion better, because compared to the SKYNEWS UK graphics these graphics look balanced and the skynews uk graphics stop in the left middle of the screen ( at least for those who can only watch in SD). Plus the skynews aus graphics consist of a 3D logo , the uk ones look like they are made by a bad power point programme.

The reason it stops is because it's 4:3 safe, whereas HD doesn't have to be because all HD televisions are 16:9. They can't exactly help that unless they want to abandon the safe zone.

Sky News: Presentation Discussion

It's so varied that it doesn't work at all. It seems very disjointed and uses so many different versions of the Sky News music that it becomes over the top. The TOTH is dreadful too.

Sky News: Presentation Discussion

It's a very disjointed opening, and I much prefer the UK ticker and headlines graphic. I couldn't watch a program based almost entirely in a CSO studio.

News International and BSkyB

The noose is tightening around BSkyB now. The unthinkable, a few months ago, that Ofcom might decide that BSkyB is an unsuitable licence holder must be getting closer.

BSkyB's Sky News having admitted to limited hacking today is very telling.

What will happen if BSkyB lose their licence then?
I think it's also telling that Sky News have admitted their hacking just days after Murdoch Jr resigned. Coincidental?

Sky News: Presentation Discussion

Is it coincidental that this has all been released just a couple of days after James Murdoch resigned as chairman of BskyB?

Watch

Looks like half a Babybel with some random images of pointless things next to it. Says as much about the channel as its name does.

Sky's Branding

It seems Sky1 could be possibly gearing up for another on screen refresh. Currently there are idents for Stella, Got to Dance, Trollied, The Cafe, Mad Dogs, Glee and Ashley Banjo Secrete Street Crew - except Glee all of these shows are no longer being aired, no new idents are being created for all the new shows airing currently, could this be a sign of a new look? Hopefully Very Happy

Maybe they've just given up completely.
