Big Brother - axed

They have a bit of a situation on their hands now, all but Lisa and David are threatening to walk out over Tuesdays eviction. It wouldn't be such a problem if the final wasn't on Friday Laughing

In my opinion it'd be a good thing, as there'd be more time for interviews. Way too many people crammed into the final nowadays, we only get about 4 questions and their best bits and off they pop!

Yes but when you're stuck with just Lisa and David, and no build up to the announcement and 2 hours to fill, it wouldn't be the most exciting of finals, not that its going to be exciting anyway, its heading for the most boring final ever which is a shame because when this series has been on it, it has been vintage BB.

The Paul O'Grady Show - axed

If it does turn out he is leaving C4, I could see the show going back to ITV. They're still trying to recreate the success they had when he was in their 5pm slot and I don't think it would be a mistake on their part to at least consider it. They could probably get a cheaper deal than before but still more than C4 are offering. I also think the show as much better when it was on ITV, because ITV's audience are more suited to the format for one thing.

They're not. ITV haven't done a 5pm chat show since Antony Cotton's about 2 years ago. ITV have been building up a strong line up of gameshows and cooking shows which have been rating very well for them.

Yet I read an interview with their head of daytime a week ago looking for 'great 5pm shows'. Still a grey area then.

Because, as Goldenballs and the C4 5pm chatshows have proven, you can't go all year with the same 2 or 3 shows without it getting stale. As it stands ITV only have Goldenballs and Britain's Best Dish recurring, but Divided performed very well for them, and apparently they're looking into commissioning either The Fuse or The Chase which both rated well.

If he goes to Sky he NEEDS to do a post watershed chat show that isn't family orientated, otherwise it will be just as successful as Richard and Judy on Watch.

It'll only last a series at the most on Sky1 anyway... they are always doing remakesm, or poaching stars or programmes, or from other channels and despite the initial blaze of publicity they disappear without trace.

Richad & Judy's problem wasn't their time-slot - they were on at roughly the same time as they were on C4, it was most of their former viewers either didn't know they were still on air/couldn't find Watch/ or didn't have pay-tv

I think time slot had a large part to play. The terrestrial channels struggle to get 2m viewers at 5pm so digital channels don't have a hope in hell of doing that well, and the original 8pm slot was very competitive. And when they moved to 6pm, I'd imagine most of their original audience were watching the news. The show was dead on arrival and there is nowhere really for a daytime chat show on digital TV. I expect Angela Griffin will learn this the hard way.

I agree about Sky1, they move on very quickly e.g. all the Gladiators publicity only for it to be axed after 2 series'.

GMTV (1993 - 2010)

Surely people just want to see the headlines and the news at the top of the hour. Not logos, shapes and whatever else flying around in all directions. Far too American and dramatic. Let's hope they change it, like they always do.

I don't want X Factor thrown at my face every five minutes. I really thought that GMTV would turn the corner. They are just the same as they were years ago. Isn't that why Eamonn left, because it was too entertainment-based? It has always been known that GMTV is watched by people with little education, who want to know what X Factor was like, or what's going on in the soaps. I want proper news, by people who know what they're on about.

Don't watch GMTV then if you want news. People know that if you watch GMTV, you'll get a bit of news (but nothing too in depth), some current affairs, real life and entertainment items. If you want news you can watch BBC1 (although that is going the same way as GMTV lately) or one of the many news channels available. Its also a bit of a sweeping statement to say GMTV is watched by those with very little education.

By the way, does anyone have the Lorraine opening from this morning? I want to see what the fuss about her hideous logo is about Laughing

GMTV (1993 - 2010)

I quite like it, but I don't think the boxes will last long, nor will the date down the left hand side of the screen and the voice over seems a bit out of place. But I do like how it cuts straight to the news at 7am after the headlines rather than to Ben and Emma, then the news, I like the 3D logo/the zoom as well as the graphic animation for names etc.

The X Factor - Series 6

Any news on ratings for last night yet?

9.3m but severely dented due to ending 8 minutes early. It should've been about 9.6m/9.7m.

The X Factor - Series 6

The girl band MissFits? - which sang the Britney Spears tune who had the girl who was perviously on the show a couple years back... the other member of the band - is it just me or does she look very familiar? Something is linking me her to a call-in quiz show?!

The blonde one or the other brunette? The brunette reminded me a lot of Linda Lusardi ...

I'm not sure I like this years show, something isn't 'clicking' for me like it usually does.
