Even if they couldn't afford her full-time, if I was Jim Grice, I'd be pushing for cash to launch a weekly political programme with Daisy in the chair.

Daisy McAndrew anchoring with Anthony Baxter in the studio doing an ok Peter Snow impression. Alison Earle at Excel
This is what they should be doing.

Didn't News 24 also broadcast on BBC2 on Saturday mornings in the days before Breakfast?

On a more positive note, apparently last week's Mayoral Debate was ad free according to Anthony Baxter's Twitter feed - so someone listened (or someone told them off for the carnage of the previous debate.

Totally agree. Pity tonight's Standard listings got it wrong by billing George Galloway again, despite advertising Zac a few pages earlier and a promo directly under the listing! Clearly Lebedev got rid of the proof readers. On a more positive note, apparently last week's Mayoral Debate was ad free according to Anthony Baxter's Twitter feed - so someone listened (or someone told them off for the carnage of the previous debate.

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but London Live wanted these changes to apply to years 2 and 3 of their licence term, ie last year and this year. Ofcom have however only allowed them to do it for the current year, so it will interesting to see if they failed to meet their quotas of first run programming last year.

Certainly compared to the likes of Big City, That's Manchester, Oxford, Solent etc., Lomdon Live looks the most professional when it comes to sets, idents and programming. Only STV can match or surpass them. Even in terms of presenters, at least the vast majority of people they have can actually present.

I totally agree. Prior to the cutbacks in March 2015 Wake Up London was just about getting there in terms of content and pace, but was then scrapped. The show received next to no promotion yet had a true USP in that it was a local alternative to Breakfast and GMB. It also filled 3 hours!

Currently this is made up of a 90 mins in the morning, another 90 mins at lunchtime and an hour at 6, followed by another hour at 7, 3 days a week or Jason Cundy on other nights.
The final half hour is a mix of interviews or arts programmes broadcast at noon - some of which are repeats.
This is weekdays only. At weekends you get 3 tedious hours of London Live News at lunchtime and 6.

Reading The Guardian article again, it seems the 5.5 hours of local programming includes their local news and current affairs output, which co-incidentally is 5.5 hours per day.Currently this is made up of a 90 mins in the morning, another 90 mins at lunchtime and an hour at 6, followed by another hour at 7, 3 days a week or Jason Cundy on other nights.

So the biggest local TV channel in the UK gets away with 5.5 hours of dull local news on weekdays, 3 hours on Saturday and Sunday except Bank Holidays when they basically don't bother and a few OB's and debates spread across the year. Oh sorry, and Jason Cundy.

Ofcom have basically given them what they asked for 18 months ago (and what they have effectively been doing ever since). Ofcom's own investigation into what constituted 'first run local programming' has never been published as far as I can tell.So the biggest local TV channel in the UK gets away with 5.5 hours of dull local news on weekdays, 3 hours on Saturday and Sunday except Bank Holidays when they basically don't bother and a few OB's and debates spread across the year.
