Any more reports on BBC1 or 2?

I don't think so, I assume there's going to be an update on BBC One at 3 before the next programme starts.

Mike and JC would have been good, Tim is now going to take over, was he ever a foreign correspondent like JC?

I seem to remember the same thing happening this time last year with the killing of Saddam - Jonathan joining Tim on News 24 on the Sunday morning- Jonathan tried to give his views, only to be interrupted by Tim.

I remember the coverage of Saddam's execution, it was really scrappy, with the two constantly talking over each other and guests and long drawn out pauses.

Edit: Tim Willcox appears on News 24

Why Mad Mad Mad Mad

Jonathan Charles knows alot about Pakistain, he interviewed her only a few months ago. So why take him off???

I presume it's because it's the end of his shift, he's been on since 11, but I agree that it does seem a waste of such specialist knowledge. I assume Tim was scheduled to take over Charles anyway.

Has Embley just joined Tim WIllcox on News 24, there's a voice I don't recognise questioning Barbara Plett.

Good to have Jonathan on this afternoon.

Yes, a nice change to have a male relief presenter who isn't Tim! I wish we could see Jonathan more on News 24, he's very good.

Oh dear. Was not impressed at seeing a full length report advertising the Strictly Come Dancing final on the Six today, as if it being mentioned on Breakfast every single day wasn't enough. I really can't see how the Strictly Come Dancing Final is a newsworthy item important enough to be featured on a national bulletin, and it seems to be just a blatant plug for a BBC programme.

Any mention of who will replace him?

It was announced at the end of today's programme that tomorrow (Thursday) will be Dermot's last programme co-presented with Sian Williams.

I wonder, will we get a look back at his time on the show?

I'd imagine so, as they did a package for Moira, and I think, though I can't quite remember, Rob Bonnet.

Best partnership: Kate Silverton and Bill Turnbull

You are joking?! A biscuit has more personality than her.

I think Bill and Kate were good together on Breakfast. To be honest though I think Bill combines well with everyone, whether it be Kate, Sian Susanna or Louise.

Thing on the 6 - unexcusable as it was planned and cheap.

Thing on 24 - no problem at all. For one thing it was during the weather, not the news.

The ending to the Six was innapropriate for a supposedly serious national news programme. Things like that should be left on the regional news where they can get away with it. Hopefully this sort of thing won't be on the programme again.

News 24 I think can get away with it. As Moz said at least it wasn't pre-planned and overall rather tacky.

2007 - Newscaster of the Year

Worst Presenter: PETER SISSONS - Completely cringeworthy, it's embarrasing to watch N24 sometimes when he's on.

The full BBC News presenter rota from 22 Dec-1 Jan is here, in case anyone is interested:

Sat 22 Dec: Louise Minchin
Sun 23 Dec: Emily Maitliss
Christmas Eve: Sophie Raworth
Christmas Day: Jane Hill
Boxing Day: Fiona Bruce
Thu 27 Dec: Fiona Bruce
Fri 28 Dec: Huw Edwards
Sat 29 Dec: Huw Edwards
Sun 30 Dec: Emily Maitlis
New Years Eve: George Alagiah
New Years Day: Nicholas Owen

I assume you took that from the RT? Hopefully more reliable than last year's attempt by them, when they said Geaorge would be on with Natasha every day! Looks more realistic though.
