You can't compare the Brits to the NTAs. The Brits are very well respected in the industry. The NTAs don't really have that respect.

Which supports my point nicely, thank you

Oh god, I go dissing him - and here he is.

re Trevor McDonald - I'm not exactly sure an event such as this needs any gravitas.

Perhaps being able to deal with drunk female heckling from the back would be more of an advantage.

Well, it is a major award ceremony...

Well so is the brits, and they've hosted by a whole load of loonies. Not always badly.

I'm sure somebody could come in and do a much better job than Mr McDonald (Who's popularity is, I'm sure, overestimated)

Yes there are less awards this year - they got rid of Best Advert, Best Daytime Prog, Best Documentary and maybe a few others. The only new one is Best Reality Show.

Would that be after last time when Big brother was nominated under 'factual'

Well done to Shane Ritchie. I for one have no problem with that at all.

Kim & Aggie really are the best aren't they? Kim looked so glam.

However, the way in which Jesse Wallace was treated was terrible. I can't believe Trevor cut her speech short to go to a break!

I agree. That was really quite unpleasant I thought.

Best moment of the night so far has been the booing of the creature comforts trailing by trev.

Worst - Best newcomer going to entirely the wrong person. And of course Tarrent using his cough joke crutch.

Carlton Looking To Pull Out Of Merger.

I can't see Carlton pulling out now doing their share price a whole lot of good - so I suspect nothing of the sort will happen

These huge, 'official x' threads...

Asa posted:
having non-pres threads (Corrie etc..) are better in their own thread so they don't overrun a forum largely dedicated to presentation.

At the time the current Corrie thread started I was waiting for it to be locked - as one had been a month previously - for not being about presentation.

Not that I'd wish for it to be taken away from anyone, of course Smile

New BBC advertising campaign for 8 new channels

As much as I admire Suzi Perry, this is an incredibly laboured promotion. I agree that she seems to stumble over a number of words.

But at least it is simple doesn't bother with any stupid gimmicks.

The BBC Sitcom

About my Hero- I don't think the first two series were that bad (the first series was actually non-filmic! Hurrah!). I think the problem was when they bought in the baby. It might have been OK if that's where they chose to leave the show, but now they're stuck with a character that can't do much and they can't do much with but still has to feature prominently.

That talking baby freaked me out when it first appeared. Because it talked they superimposed mouthing onto its face. They used an adult to do this, and forgot that new born babies don't have teeth. Bashed up yellow teeth specifically. It looked terrible.

I think that the mainstream channels often tend to have the weakest sitcoms - obviously because they have to appeal to many. I reckon the golden age for BBC One was when they were showing 'Keeping up Appearances', 'Only Fools and Horses' and 'The Brittas Empire' at once. Whilst ITV were toiling with 'The Two of us', 'Watching' and 'The upper hand'. And Channel 4 had 'Desmonds' eek!

Teen Big Brother - 13th October

This Is Granada posted:
As for Jade and Tommy, well Today I found out that when they had sex in the house they did not use a Condom and apparently She asked for the morning after pill the next day!!

Jade and Tommy? The same two who nominated each other last night and calmly claimed they just found it hard to communicate, and didn't click with? Kids, good grief Exclamation

I only ever watch the short term big brother series, because I can't stand 10 weeks or whatever - less chance to chance upon a load of wannabe's who get the press creaming themselves. I am quite enjoying this - some marvellous teenage qualleling going on. When watching it is always worth baring in mind that all teenagers are in fact mentally disturbed, and there is nothing they can do about it. It's natural.

So what will are we likely to learn from this experiment? I think the moral of the story is that those who believe they are the most mature, infact never are. Witness the overweight black girl who thinks she's seen it all before and the young irish gay who can't cope with differing opinions to him.
To me, those who are putting themselves across as any normal person would wish to are the Scottish golfing guy and the blond girl who forgot to pack her bra.
