Rather abrupt ending on ITV, Alistair cut off, black screen, Daybreak with no titles.

Typical. At least with BBC there is some continuity, or they keep running in overnight studio until a convenient point

Do our TV companies have specially starched, curl-free poppies? I can never keep mine that flat for more than 5 mins!

US Election Results

Although a BBC "loyalist", found their presentation incredibly pedestrian and turned to ITV. Think they have got a good balance & I like the drop-ins to NBC. Have flicked to Sky, Al-Jazeera & RT, but not for very long!

ITV have the advantage that they are able to use these drop-ins. The BBC cannot as they are in direct competition with the US Networks, so their entire programme has to be their own... thus is bland and repetitive. They simply don't have the same reach within the US as NBC do.

(Hope that makes sense, it is 5am. Very Happy)

Sure does! Also, the fact that ITV are ad-free has encouraged me to watch. I take it US networks still have a plethora of ad-breaks during their coverage?

If BBC could have used a TC1-type studio with big sweeps, etc; maybe the some in the US may tune in Wink

Daybreak relaunch with Lorraine and Aled

The re-fashioned Daybreak logo & clock now remind me more of the TV-Am logo & era

The Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Thread

The Yorkshire torch relay special was nicely done, practically the entire presenting team was in force, and they opted back in cleanly at the end.

Our freeview pvr "failed to record" the programme tonight. Any ideas if it's being repeated, or where it might be found on the net? Will do a quick reckie

It's alright - found it on the iPlayer

Royal News Coverage

ITV seems to be approx 1min ahead of the BBC with it's coverage; just seen Prince Charles arrive and go up the staircase of the Guildhall twice!

BBC Breakfast

I wish they'd sort out the Breakfast Westminster Studio. There always seems to be a green hue leaking in [from the green screen]around whichever person is sat in the studio; plus the "fuzz" that's more reminiscent of the cso's of the 70's & 80's. Must be one of, if not the worst on the beeb at present.

NBC News, MSNBC, ABC News and others from across the pond

I like the mix on the Today show and the set useage (although my impression is based on the 1st hour via iTunes) and the way it intereacts with the viewers (i.e. streetside studio). I've bought a copy of "From Yesterday to Today", charting the 60 years the programme has been airing. I didn't realise that it had been going that long. Maybe the Daybreak team need to get a copy Very Happy

I was impressed by the NBC Studio tour I went on, when in NYC a couple of years ago, especially as I got to see the NBC Nightly News studio. You don't seem to get the same type of access on the BBC tour.

I don't work "in the industry" but have interest in News & Current affairs and the presentaton thereof, so any chance to see behind the scenes is lapped up (sad I know, but I'm easily pleased).
