Dundee? Shocked

Yes.

And of course it was subject to a typical box-ticking report on Reporting Scotland earlier this week.

I can't really fathom why Dundee was chosen either...

New Meridian, BBC South & South East Thread

Ronant posted:
Sorry if this has been covered but ive only just moved back to the area - for how long has South Today Oxford been doing the full 30 minutes show at 6.30 rather than just a 10 minute opt out at the beginning?
Always does on a Friday I think.

Don't know why, it's car crash TV at best.

This from broadcast this week: "SMG will also continue investing programming for its core STV business.

It will launch a news magazine programme for 5.30pm-6pm early next year that will broadcast across Scotland, ahead of the 6pm national news bulletin. The show is expected to increase the group 9% share of audience at this time.

They're going all UTV on us Shocked
Hope the programme isn't just a crafty way of replacing both shows. Something a bit like the old "Room at the top" broadcast from Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow ages ago would be nice with Stephen Jardine.

ITV wants to axe some regional news services

...But then I suppose that would create a broadcast area stretching from Bristol to Southend, and that can't be good for local broadcasting.

Which is no better or worse than one stretching from Bristol to Land's End covering the whole of the South West peninsula.

...It isn't probably. But I think the people of Bristol have far more in common with those in the westcountry than those in Essex Very Happy

It happens quite alot in all regions though. I have nothing in common with those in Aberdeen, but I am in the same news region as them on the BBC. It's probably manageable if you get the balance right, but can be awful if you don't (BBC NE&C herherm Razz )

ITV wants to axe some regional news services

I think it was always obvious when ITV seperated the Wales & West regions that they had created a mini-region that wasm't sustainable.

However, merging West & Westcountry really does create a massive region in geographic terms. Surely a merger with Meridian would make more sense. The people of Bristol have far more in common with that area than they do with the rural areas of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset.

Yes, it was indeed a good wee dig at BBC Scotland.

Building looks nice from the outside!

It's quite nice on the inside too, was in today in the public area at the building's enterance (along with many others Smile ).

However, you don't get to see too much - probably able to see more at the Mailbox in Birmingham. But I suppose it's a broadcaster first Wink

The News on Tour outside seemed to be well attended too.
