Election Night 2005

Despite picking up less viewers than Huw I am happy that Anne has attracted a reasonable share of the vote.

Mackenzie has not the same profile as Edwards. The BBC Scotland team did a great job.

What saddens me is that folk wrote this off before it was airred and it is no wonder that people where turned off. In saying that the share of those on BBC ONE Scotland was better than BBC TWO Scotland - shutting up all those who dismissed this 'mickey mouse' operation.

I don't think Anne has done any worse than what Kirsty Wark would have done if she was at the helm.

I am sure that she will go on to better things on the BBC Network. Anne MacKenzie is a modest consumate professional - something quite rare in the media nowadays!!! Very Happy

The Election - Which news channel will you watch . . . ?

Erection?? I don't think that Anne and Jackie will be in a x-rated film - even though the 'X' is the symbol for the BBC coverage. Laughing Laughing

The trailer for the show looked good tonight - don't think there will be Crossroads set!!

Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the iTV 1 through to 4 mate - but the iTV News one needs a bit more omphh. What about a reverse iTV1 white/blue logo and the current background.

The best iTV logos on the site so far though Wink

It's probably been mentioned already, but the BBC Scotland programme will be available UK-wide via BBC Parliament.

Election 2005 -Pre-Election discussion here

Sorry I've just read the last few pages of this thread before my last reply and now am more in context.

Antz, clearly you are too thick to read the posts before your own (Pot, Kettle, Trevor I know) but the discussion here is about why Scotland require an opt for Scotland is required when in this election Scotland matters even less than it used to. Only you and winifred the second here seem to think this is a dicussion about pres still.

And as for you Anne's Fan. Why is it needed? Why is it more "relevant to Scotland" ? This is a UK election that will be decided by constituencies in England. As there are less constituencies in Scotland now we have even less of an impact.

Plus the "half-baked" comment you seem incapable of understanding referd to people in Scotland getting a rubbish council show and a rubbish Scotland opt whereas England would get a good, RELEVENT election show and a crap council one.

So why is a Scottish opt needed? Please explain as the rest of us can't see the reasoning.

Thanks for your comments.

Please ask BBC Scotland why they have made this decision - it was nothing to do with me. I mentioned this just to point it out. There are many other elections shows - I just so happen to want to watch this particular one. The choice is aplenty.

For those outraged - why not contact BBC Scotland in Glasgow - I am no advocate nor ambassador for Queen Margaret Drive. I - personally - really don't give a monkey's uncle what anyone else watches. I have not spat the dummy - but really don't see why I should justify to anyone what I want to watch.

I think I have said my bit here.

I hope everyone enjoys whatever programme they WANT to watch.

Well I will be watching an excellent election show on BBC Scotland - those who don't watch will be no loss to this coverage.

No-one actually knows what we'll be getting. I have not made my mind up until I see it - or am I just too inferior to look into the future and see what BBC Scotland has in store - probably.

Perhaps I'm not that far up my rear to watch the telly in the first place.

Unless...and I stress this is speculation...BBC are planning something about the councils on TWO or NEWS 24. Then Scottish viewers would have the double whammy of a half-baked election programme, or local council elections. Though if that were to happen, surely someone at QMD would have the sense to put national election on TWO, since English local elections definitely don't matter compared to general election.[/quote]

Half baked - yet more relevant to Scottish viewers than English council elections???

Although I am not sure why folk are so unhappy here. Is it that

1) They want to see what is happening across the UK (this would be covered in the proposed set up)

2) The snazzy graphics and resources will be limited at QMD (so what - the coverage will be relevant and not the set of Eurovision)

3) Our journalists are crap and cannot be trusted to produce a credible election programme.(I won't even dignify this one!!)

Lets face it while London will always be Disney World - I don't see QMD as being on the same par as Cadona's Amusement Park in Aberdeen.

Studios have improved at QMD - and if you think that is rough look at the archive of Grampian's Queen Cross days. A programme is not just about the glamourous graphics, titles and an older male headmasterly telling off naughty politicians - we have moved on somewhat (I hope)

Anyway - I have a life - I'm more outraged at not getting any Irn Bru at my grocers tonight!! Laughing

I'm sure an inferior set etc will be put into oblivion with Anne's journalistic skills.

There will be coverage of things beyond Hadrian's Wall.

I will be watching the BBC ONE Scotland - because it will be of a high standard - journalistically off course.

The next Trevor McDonald

He certainly is a well established journalist.

However, if he was in the running - I'd have thought that he would be presenting some bulletins for ITV at the moment. Bill Neely is more likely to be in this race than Tim.
