BBC News Channel: Presentation

I
Sky have probably spent a lot more on their studio than the BBC and as I said before it is a newer facility as opposed to a refurbished facility.

Of course they did. Sky News had been in a glorified warehouse for 15 years of course they'll splash out £20m future-proofing themselves because they'll probably never ever have the opportunity to move again. It is a purpose built facility.

I wish the "Ice Maiden" would return to BBC World News actually. Sorely missed.

James, she can still be seen on Fox News reporting from Baghdad I think.

You'd think that they'd name Dermot's sidekick in the brochure, that is, assuming they're still having one...

Because Sky have money to throw around.

But not as much money as the NC, whose budget outstripped that of sky's by around £10m a year prior to the integration and multimedia newsroom jazz. Post this I would imagine that theoretically at least the assets at the disposal of the news channel has increased dramatically - as the change in name (although largely superficial gloss) would appear to indicate.

Commercial broadcasters can afford to do this.

No they can't. You only have to look at Sky to see the play that they are making for business news especially with the intent of attracting the crucial AB category to breath some life into dwindling advertising revenue. It's the reason that CNBC in the US has been able to survive as long as it has done, despite ratings that barely even register.

Yes, before Sky moved to the new SNC there were problems, although my understanding does suggest that the Beeb are not running on a system in their gallery that can only handle four inputs.

This, boys and girls, is what you get when you take lessons from Frank Partridge.

Doesn't surprise me..............People are very different than their on screen persona usually. I hope the Photographer takes legal action. I think the pics tell you more about Burley than ten years of watching her on Sky ever could!

Of course people are inevitably different off screen, we are diverse beings. It's the way that we are made. Emily Maitlis may not strike you as the hard partying type, but that is exactly what she is. Indeed, she is quite a prized catch for any gathering of the right socio-economic balance. Yet you don't see her prancing willy-nilly around the newsnight studio glowsticking to every bed and sting do you?

We all know Kay has an 'issue' with her temper, but then again most in the UK media do too.

Kay doesn't work Monday's btw - she has to feed the donkeys. Seriously.

Blu Ray is a format that can store HD content and is a rival to the HD DVD format a disc that can store HD content. Ultimately neither will win out right as the technology is moving along to fast IMO.

Too late. Toshiba shelved HD DVD back in Feb. Where have you been?

Polsat News - the new polish news channel

tvn24 posted:

Obviously my own personal tastes may not reflect those of the Polish people but I don't like it much at all tbh.

One thing that I do find interesting is that yet AGAIN we have use of perspex/glass with the name or motif on (look above the desk). So that's ITV News at Ten, Five News, Fox News, Fox Business Network, Polsat News - plus you have design elements consistent with this theme used across Sky. It sure is spreading.
