Sky News Budget 2007

The following is part of a bigger mock that I am working on, however, when I tried to post that earlier the aspect ratios went tits up so I've done a little teaser. What do you think?

For the noompties amongst you, the /LIVE/ is supposed to be outside the 4:3 safe area.

Back on Topic now, and the Budget Coverage sounds a bit OTT, least there pulling out all the stops though.

Congrats to sky, they are really going for it. Lets hope it's as good as the PBR coverage

They can not compete with the BBC, they never will, thats a given. All they've got to do is exploit what they are good at

What an odd thing to say. Most people would be of the opinion that up until R-day in October they did compete, and did very well.

Ok sorry, what I wanted to say and what i typed didn't really get onto the forum. What I'm saying is that the BBC have something that sky can never have. The regions, and the news-gathering power of them and simply their sheer size etc, and before you say something I know sky news have their little bureaus but they are not nearly as big as the BBCs. I do not agree that you can compare the two of them as they are offering competely different packages.

What ever you make me out to be I still prefered the old sky news. The whole ell was much more down to earth. Now they seem to have had an ego transplant, and I just don't like what I see.

Cat - What we each get from a news channel or news program is different, I tune in for news, not for sport, if I wanted sport I'd go to SSN. Its like if i wanted features and expose style reporting I'd go more for channel 4. If I want to hear the patronizing tones of George Allagiah (sp?) or see Slasha strut her stuff I'd tune into BBC1 at 6 O'Clock. etc...

it is getting increasingly worse, and going steadily downmarket. Last week Lve at 5's top stroy was the England footie job, what sort of a main news story is that for a NEWS channel?

Quite a big one, actually.

I can't think of a time when a new England manager has been appointed and he hasn't been the top story, not just on Sky but on practically every other outlet on TV.

You've got no idea what you're talking about.

Hey thats your opinion. Its a NEWS channel, sure it should have been one of the headlines but not up the top as the FIRST story. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You obviously have no idea what your saying. They have a dedicated sports news channel. Stick it on that. There are plenty of other decent stories they could have covered, its just because its ATV. Go back to your News of the World or Sunday Mirror.

The trouble is they are getting too bogged down with all this competition stuff. They can not compete with the BBC, they never will, thats a given. All they've got to do is exploit what they are good at

From an animation point of view its practically faultless. However, this just does not appeal to me, just call it personal taste. But still great

BBC News

Love them, my only criticism is that the influence of CNN is to strong. I personaly think that the BBC should aim to keep up to date with graphics ideas etc but try to individualise them to seperate themselves from the norm, if you get my drift. Well done though 9/10.
