I'm sure somebody at Sky is reading comments from here (re. summary presenters) as i've been watching Sunrise since the 8:30am headlines and between then and 9am Lukwesa didn't leave the sofa.

She was chipping into the discussions and also reading e-mail's relevant to each report. She definitely seemed more involved than summary presenters normally are.

Also, another change for the Live Desk - Anna B at the helm today.

I would agree that having AL and Sky Today under the same format would make sense, but I think that it should not be a format that involves the whole thing being done from the desk. I would love to see both Dermot and Kay's summary presenter become more involved in the programmes. Perhaps a good way to give the new 'young guns' experience could be for them to act as apprentice like co-presenters for Kay and Dermot.

Agreed on your point of involving the summary presenter more.

For a while, especially on SNT, they had the summary presenter coming back at the end of the hour with some e-mails (like Charlotte does on Sunrise) but this seems to have stopped for some reason.

Afternoon Live is losing it's identity every day, now the voiceover doesn't even say the name of the program.

I just dont understand what has happened to AL and why bother go to all the effort with the newswall and island etc. a few weeks ago, only to have a complete re-think.

3pm TOTH.........no "This is Afternoon Live with....." or even the AL logo on the newswall. It just felt as if I was watching another hour of SNT.

Its a shame because AL was so good last week, making use of the studio etc.

I dont think anyone can grudge the presenters their time off etc.

But Sky just need a little consistency while presenters are off.....like last week The Live Desk had 4 different presenters. Maybe they couldn't get someone to cover the show all week but surely they could have got maybe 2 people to cover the week.

how do you know this? how do you know the exact working patterns and employment contracts of sky news and show different shifts work? it really does verge of stalkerish levels which is why there is so much distain from many members on the subject

I was just making the point that there was much chopping and changing and maybe Sky could have tried to get someone sitting in for Colin all week opposed to somebody different every day, of course this may not have been possible.

A strip of red carpet has been added to the newswall/steps. Looks a lot better! It seems to have been widened to be aligned with the end of the steps down to the floor now.
