Not doubting her expertise, it's that she seems to have come across abruptly when I have seen her.
I have never seen Robinson or Gardener.

I think it’s part of the schtick they play up. She’s very personable on msnbc.

I'm pretty sure she was ITN's Tokyo presenter on the C4 Daily in its first few months in 1989?

Possibly, I know she’s said one son has Japanese citizenship.

ITV News

Since it mentions independent news. I’m curious how much input does the ITV network have on the newscast? I know they own the largest chunk of ITN. But if there’s a big story about ITV in a negative light (like that talk show suicide) could they ask it to be struck?

Unlike the US networks, interference from the management of ITV in ITN would be unacceptable and it would be reported to the regulator Ofcom who would come down like a tonne of bricks on ITV management.

I was wondering if it ever happened. I know CBS and NBC reported like crazy the Charlie Rose and Matt Lauer/Megyn Kelly stories.

US ELECTIONS 2020 Coverage

The only election set we have not seen is NBC’s. I have no idea what they’re planning but studio 4E hasn’t been in use due to the pandemic and maybe they’re converting it back like they did last time. I could see due to coronavirus concerns them spreading out across 10 Rockefeller and 30 Rockefeller. Maybe the main base in studio 6A with elements taking advantage of Studio 1A’s video wall and plaza. Before they used to set up booths overlooking the rink. But with the current political climate and risks of riots they may not want to do that. You don’t want people screaming obscenities on your broadcast or trying to smash windows.

House posted:
She seems to know a lot about US politics, but she comes across as a bossy 'know all' and slightly arrogant.

I’m just curious, would you say the same about someone like Nick Robinson on the Today programme, or Frank Gardener on the Ten? Katty has been a Washington-based correspondent, analyst and presenter since 1996 – she’s undoubtedly a specialist in US politics and domestic affairs, and I’d be worried if that didn’t come across in her presenting, interviewing and reporting after almost 25 years covering the beat?

NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC, NBC affiliates and TODAY

I think it must be said....and I hate to say it.....this has to be the biggest set disasters in recent years I've ever seen from NBC. They are usually near flawless when it comes to set design, but also graphics and lighting. Ive never seen them do anything close to this bad. Its a defo a head scratcher. They usually leave the cheesy crap to ABC or CBS. This seems strangely out of character for NBC News creatives.

When it was first installed people joked it was a left over SNL set.

Oh an those arches around the video wall and windows are a deep blue. Almost seems like an office designated designed the set.

I don’t see the problem with it. Most newscasts have a kicker/happy talk at the end. I got ripped a new one either here or on DS for not seeing issue with the BBC Radio video with the Minions.

I honestly have know idea where we discussed the initialism or acryonym policy of the BBC. But I remember NASA was spelled out Nasa. But recently it’s been capitalized.

BBC Regional SD/HD Transmissions

Not on Freeview. Only London and Granada match the relevant region. If you live in the South West, instead of getting ITV West Country, they have ITV Central (West) and viewers in Norwich receive ITV Meridian on HD instead of Anglia. Granada goes out in the Border, Tyne Tees and Yorkshire regions.

Guess this is wrong. Wonder where they got the information

That list refers to all the regional variations that are transmitted by ITV. Not all of them are available on Freeview. As of today it also happens to be out of date as ITV launched more variations of ITV HD this morning.

For example, I live in the Anglia West region. On satellite (Sky/Freesat) until today we received Anglia East on ITV HD, as that list says, and as of today we now get Anglia West in HD. However on Freeview we get Meridian South East on ITV HD.

It's because ITV HD is carried on the BBC owned 'PSB 3' multiplex, which was the original Freeview HD multiplex and the only HD multiplex with full national coverage. When it launched ITV only transmitted a few 'macro' regions in HD, and BBC One HD had no regional variations at all (still the case in England), so the multiplex was setup with enough encoders to cover all of ITV's macro regions.

Since then ITV have launched HD versions of most their regional variations, but Freeview is stuck with the old variations due to a dispute between the BBC and ITV over who should pay for the new encoders/infrastructure. The BBC thinks ITV should pay for it as they're the ones asking to add more regions, but ITV refuse to pay the full cost as the BBC will also benefit from it when they eventually launch regional versions of BBC One HD, effectively giving the BBC free encoders. So we're now stuck with a silly situation where many areas have completely the wrong ITV region on Freeview (which has the most viewers), but the right one on satelllite.

Any place I can see the correct mapping?

BBC Regional SD/HD Transmissions

Isn't that the issue - ITV don't want to pay to put that infrastructure in place for the BBC to get the benefit for free.

Didn’t ITV already put in the infrastructure? Aren’t most regions mapped to the same SD one?
