Today's VERY Blue Peter...

Blue f***in' Peter?

It's either ... "I dunno if I can do it!" ... or ... "I don't wanna f***in' do it!" ... both sound very similar. But as far as I can tell
it does sound like the latter rather than the former, judging by the (embarrassed?) chuckle from the girl sat next to him.

What's wrong with you people.... it is CLEARLY "I don't know if I can do it". It's people who don't listen and get their arse in a flap who cause all the hassle on things like Big Brother... and I thought people who hear what they want to hear were confined to that sort of show.

But what was said on Big Brother is quite clearly a different matter.

I wasn't referring to the racial slur row... I was just using Big Brother as an example where people think they hear or interpret things as they want to and disregard the reality in favour of a good fight or scandal.

Big Brother

Ironic that "coloured" should be used for black, since technically black isn't a colour (it's a absence of colour)!!

Black people I know would refer to themselves as black at all times, so I go by that yardstick if, for any reason, I make reference to their ethnic background.

Today's VERY Blue Peter...

I was going to say, I watched it closely and didn't pick up on anything. But, perhaps it's because I am Welsh and have grown up listening to his accents... it can be deceiving if spoken quickly.

Neighbours had a similar situation a few weeks ago when people complained because Frazer had allegedly said "****" on screen... but it turned out to be "flipping" or something said quickly.

Why hasn't Charley been removed as well? She used the same word, in the same conversation, but happens to be coloured , so it must be allowed.
Probabaly because Emily started it....!?

Erm so? If it had been Amanda or Laura who said it in the same conversation you can bet your life they would of been removed as well.

Anyone who uses the language should be removed. "End of". No excuses. No double standards.

(1) Firstly, to describe someone as "coloured" is also racially offensive, or certainly was unless opinion has changed recently.

(2) "they would have been removed...".

Challenge Anneka

I forgot it was on, so only caught the end, but what I saw seemed so similar to the original series. Great stuff. I can't find a repeat anywhere though... typical ITV they repeat the crappest stuff on digital but never anything "one off".

BBC squashing all credits still more

I have contacted the person responsbible for Neighbours' broadcasts at the Beeb, but she is away until next week so unless they take the initiative, I wouldn't expect to see any change for that show's credits.

To be honest i doubt neighbours credits will change at all, it took years for them to be adjusted for the last ECP, and with the programme about to disappear off the BBC within the next 9 months is it really worth it? Plus the show will probably be taking a break in the next couple of weeks for Ascot and Wimbledon, so if a new look is introduced it may be introduced then. The other alternative, is for them to wait until Neighbours has its new look, which should air over here from December, and introduce a new style credits then.

The new look should be here by October... it is launching July 23rd in Australia. Either way I know the show's days are numbered on the Beeb, but 9 months is a long time to have those credits stupidly squashed so I hope they sort it at some point.

BBC squashing all credits still more

Well they still showed the right-scroller on Neighbours this lunchtime, but they squashed it down to the new thumbnail format... which meant it was totally illegible. I hope they sort out a centre scroll soon!

I don't mind the new format, but I still maintain the credits video is too small to read the text easily. The "later" box is too big for its purpose.

Well, today's lunchtime Neighbours had the right-aligned roller as usual and a left-sided split screen ECP.

Blue Peter cut back to 2 shows a week

Inspector Sands posted:

It'll also mean going back to a more managable and stable number of presenters, a while back it seemed like they were getting a new one every few months

To be fair, there were a few presenter change-arounds in the late 90s - largely unavoidable - because of Richard Bacon's sacking, Romana D'Annunzio spending months away doing panto then suddenly leaving etc. But, from 1999-2000 they had the Konnie/Katy Hill/Simon/Matt team and then Katy was replaced by Liz Barker in 2000 and the four of them remained together for more than four years until Christmas 2004 when Zoë Salmon came to help while Liz was having her baby ( feat not seen since the Val/Peter/John/Lesley era).

Since then it's only been Simon, Matt and Liz's relatively close departures after quite a few years' service that's shaken things up recently.
