The staging of the song sung by Celeste with the reflections of the Christmas trees and the neon signs in the background switched off made it feel much more haunting and majestic.
They’ve done very well considering Top of the Pops is probably the one show over the years that’s thrived from the use of their audience.
Top of the Pops
I’m really loving this year’s Top of the Pops. I think with no audience, more thought and consideration has been put into the staging of the acts, which means it’s more visually stimulating to the viewers. The staging of the song sung by Celeste with the reflections of the Christmas trees and the neon signs in the background switched off made it feel much more haunting and majestic.

Not like we usually get. Just a virtual choir singing ‘Merry Christmas to you’.
If a new Christmas close was created for this year, we might see it in today’s bulletins given yesterday’s Breaking News.

So no special festive close this year?

To be honest I didn’t even realise she was pregnant.

Boris has just acknowledged and apologised for ‘interrupting Cars 3’. Which won’t make much sense to those on the world channels that are taking the speech, nor will it make much sense to BBC One viewers who are carrying on showing Cars 3 anyway.

All in the name of continuity. The series started years before the DOG was in existence. Therefore the DOG had to make way of the graphics. And if they make the decision to move the graphics, then ITV have to remember if it gets repeated which series to move the DOG for and which not to.
Keeping the graphics where they are makes it simple, they move the DOG for every episode.
The Million Pound Cube
How odd that the lives graphic is in the top left, meaning the ITV DOG has to be moved to the right like on sport coverage. I thought there would have been graphic guidelines given to producers about avoiding the DOG (and end credits style etc)

Unsure why as they’ve got the pick of the stars at the time and it’s not a bad song to boot.

This is a bit of an anomaly from Christmas 95 that I have absolutely no recollection of.Unsure why as they’ve got the pick of the stars at the time and it’s not a bad song to boot.

Never seen the Breaking News sting being used on the screens within the newsroom on the BBC News Special right now. It looks quite good, but might need a bit of a redesign as it does appear a bit blurred.

Eamonn and Anthea have since made up since she was a guest on This Morning after being voted out of Hell’s Kitchen in 2009 and Ruth and Eamonn had to interview her. She’s been a guest on This Morning a few times with Eamonn at the helm since and all now seems amicable.

Quite ironic that that clip also includes David Cassidy who Eamonn also publicly fell out with after a rocky appearance on This Morning a few years back before his death.Eamonn and Anthea have since made up since she was a guest on This Morning after being voted out of Hell’s Kitchen in 2009 and Ruth and Eamonn had to interview her. Their closing speech was rather non-descript but did get a sense of a frosty atmosphere on the closing shot when everything was applauding seemingly to no reaction from Eamonn & Ruth.
Let’s see how Alison and Dermot get on. Time will tell.
