Unfortunately that already means I won’t be watching them on ITV this year as it won’t be the same. Would have liked Charlene or Mary to do them but alas I’ll be joining Simon McCoy on the BBC News Channel myself.
ITV News
Confirmed that Rageh Omaar will be who presides the Big Ben bongs tonight, after Alastair brung us the bongs for many years.Unfortunately that already means I won’t be watching them on ITV this year as it won’t be the same. BBC News this Christmas - impact of cuts & Covid
Without Alastair Stewart this year... I think Simon might be my choice this year.

EastEnders
Think they did that last year, they do the last episode of the year that’s not actually at New Year.

And of course the 1999 series of Live and Kicking was dreadful.
Agreed. I think for the BBC it was terrible timing when Jamie & Zoe left, though pretty much perfect for the duo for them to still leave whilst on a high.
Steve and Emma just didn’t gel. They were pretty much just as bad as each other to be honest. And it made for boring telly. Whereas you got three people gelling on screen and creating funny must see sketches on the other side, and it’s not hard to see why SM:TV was so successful.
Who knows... if the BBC screen tested a more suitable presenting duo, then SMTV might not have been as successful and Ant, Dec & Cat might not be where they are now.

C4 "Goes Back To"...each decade
The graphics are based on all the ident sets they’ve had in the past. Some nice recreations.

He’s been appearing quite a bit recently on Central. Mostly as reporter and anchor of some lates and weekends.
I would imagine Wesley might be a shoe in to fill the anchor seat when Bob retires, whenever that will be.
Anglia/East of England News Discussion
I’ve always thought it is a tremendous shame over a decade on Wesley hasn’t found a new home. Sharing the main anchor role at Central with Matt Teale, or at the helm in the Channel Islands.

Smtv Live reunion
Am I right in remembering that some episodes of SMTV in 2003 were broadcast as late as 3pm due to morning coverage of either the F1 or Rugby World Cup?

The only clip they shown from those days was the final scene from the final episode with the fireworks. Had to love that Stephen Mulhern was credited as an SMTV presenter, but wouldn’t acknowledge it himself only admitting that Ministry of Mayhem wasn’t as good as SMTV.
I do also like how they used the 3 versions of the theme music while Ant & Dec hosted into and out of breaks in order of when they were used! Nice touch!
Seems like it got a positive reaction. Hopefully it will spur them on to bring it back, maybe in the form of SN:tv Live on a Saturday evening. Like the TFI Friday resurrection a few years back.

I liked it. A great look back from the beginnings to its heyday... of course omitting the last two years. The only clip they shown from those days was the final scene from the final episode with the fireworks. Same. I thought it was ok but didn’t suit Bradley’s presenting style. And Jimmy Carr was a bit of an annoying guest.
Blankety Blank is more of a gig for Alan Carr I’d say... ironically that’s one of the game shows that he hasn’t tried out.
Christmas TV 2020
I’m probably in the minority, but I didn’t think Bradley’s Blankety Blank was great and actually think the Walliams version was probably the better programme. On paper it seemed like a great match, but it just didn’t seem right.
