CNN International & Domestic

From next week Michael Holmes and Isha Sesay are trading jobs, Michael is leaving BackStory and moving to first IDesk edition at 1600 cet while Isha is becoming the new BacStory presenter. This makes sense since she also does news upadtes for Anderson Cooper and this way she doesn't have to be at CNN Center all day long like when she did first IDesk (though lately she barely did it at all).

Also Back Story will get a new set from next week, finally. It will be done from the new CNN US newsroom.

Seems like Isha is the new Golden Girl at CNN! Bit like Zain used to be before she ditched her Wasgington post!

STV News

Sad news alert folks, Louise White is no longer at STV News. Seems she has set up a new venture. Her twitter is @LWhiteMedia.

Sad news but not a surprise!

One thing is for sure tho, I think the edinburgh News at 6 will be permanent now. Or if it doesn't Juliet will move to Glasgow and become the new Louise and be the Opt Out face and John's stand in.

Although I would much prefer that STV gave a permanent contract to Rachel!

Scottish pres discussion Thread

And what rubbish it was!!! The whole thing is an embarrassment!!

I have to agree!

Theme Music was better but that was about it! It will be axed either at Christmas or won't come back after summer break next year!

Should have stayed with Five Thirty Show IMO! But that's STV, get something good and make a mess!

STV News

What STV really mean in layman's terms, they do know the reason behind the extended absence, but they are keeping schtoom. And to be honest, Heather is starting to grind on me doing all these late bulletins. Whatever happened to the likes of Joanne Bonner or Vicky Lee doing a late bulletin?

Heather alright and i do like her doing the news but of course Louise is something else:

When Heather come back from Maternity leave her main role was to produce the bulletins and not really to be a news reader. Vicky Lee left to join Real radio Scotland news team, STV are short of news readers......

Vicky did leave to go to Real Radio but came back.

They are not short anything at STV just now, it's the roles they have now. Vicky Lee/Laura Miller/Clare Steven are all call Broadcast Journalists. And as so 90% of there role is behind the scences. Many a night at end of the News at 6m Vicky/Clare/Laura will appear on credits as News Gathering.

Also at the weekends, they edit, produce & direct all the bulletins. Basically as the weekend all you have in is a News Presenter, News Reporter and a Broadcast Journalist.

So the faces you think should be reading the news are all busy behind the scenes.

Heather is different, Her role is a combined role as Assistant Producer/News Presenter.

STV News

Have to agree though with Steven O, don't see the harm in STV getting what was the old Border Scot and putting out an STV South edition.

It would be nice if that happened but I get the feeling there will not do this, especial since the east and west opt come in

It would be good for a STV South and hopefully if they have any sense would give it to Louise White. She seems to have gone from STV, I have e-mailed STV and all you get is that shes on a unknown extended absence.

Honestly unless she gonna get the new late night prog, I don't see her coming back to STV. A loss!

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

Shaun Ley on BBC World News now. I have to echo the sentiments of other forumers - these rotas are getting rather irregular. Couldn't Tim have just done this shift?! I don't really like this Shaun fellow. It shows that he works on radio as opposed to TV normally. Very fidgety and moving around a lot.

They reason why the rotas are so ballsed up is because of all the moves.

They are trying people out in different roles because they are either going to salford or staying in london.

For example Victoria Derbyshire on Breakfast news, because she like 5 live is going to Salford. Another example is the Newsround girl (sorry for got her name) maybe doesn't want to relocate to salford so the Beeb are trying to find her a role in London so they don't need to pay or make her redundent. Therefore why shes popping up on world.

STV News

STV really should use a weather forecaster at the weekend, the newsreader reading the weather is very cheap.

I hate that too, they wont bring a forecaster in at the weekend, I thought a cheaper way would be to get the voiceover for the north done by the newsreader in the central and the central newscaster to do the voiceover for the weather in the north.

STV News

Because of all the activity in glasgow last night, the west got Juliet for the late news from edinburgh. That's a first I think!

STV News

Norman on the news at 6 (North) and late news on a Friday!

I guess its cause Andrea is working on the STV Appeal but she never does the late news. Although she did do the Lunchtime News today!

Good on Mr MacKay in Glasgow tho! Zip lined across the Clyde at 1pm and did the news at 1.50pm!

London/UK Riots Coverage (Sky News/BBC News Channel)

Magoo posted:
LBC are talking about the TV News channels ignoring the unrest.

My thinking is that a DA Notice may have been served to the UK TV news broadcasters about the unrest situations, would be the logical explanation to the non-existent TV coverage.

My assumption would be that it's proving a challenge logistically and security-wise to cover and verify the latest reports on Twitter.

These people cover warzones on a daily basis, yet cant cover a riot on there door step!

STV News

GMc posted:
According to DigiGuide (other TV guides are available), Laura Goodwin will present the STV News at Six (East) all next week.

She is first choice in aberdeen after Norman & Andrea! Although after the refreshing week we have had in the west with Rachel this week would only be fair to the east viewers if they got her for a week!

Although I really can't help but think that Louise White has gone for good! Gerry McCulloch has left STV altogether too!
