…and finally

Something profound needed to say goodbye to the forum.

BBC to move more roles outwith London

Pebble Mill needed some work, new heating system, windows, electrical work but the fabric was fundamentally sound. It would have been much cheaper to refurb the place as its running costs would have been cheaper. There was no concrete cancer found, that was a myth. It went because of the decision to pull departments out of Birmingham and not a little BBC politics. Only after the decision was made did the top brass become aware that they had nowhere to make Doctors as the foyer didn't show up as studio space (again political) studio A didn't show up on the accountants spread sheets as it was closed and officially didn't exist. It didn't even show up as a four waller and there was no internal system to book it.

I would suggest it is another example of senior BBC management meddling in the broadcast operation which is making a lot of people unsettled and unhappy. You see it with Morning Live which is working perfectly well but is moved, not for creative purposes but for political ones. Its very unhealthy. I don't know if UK news will work financially and be welcomed or understood by the UK public. Maybe he will join his old friend Ms Burley there. It will be interesting to watch.
Whilst he is a great loss to the BBC no one is bigger that the corporation and no one is indispensable. The BBC can make a star but it doesn't last forever. Good luck to Simon he will be missed at the BBC. Thumbs up

As I stated in another thread (you didn't respond to my post), any business needs to consider multiple factors, not just creative ones, in order to survive. That's just how things were. With an unlimited pot of money that might not need to be the case, though you might get other issues.

I've been here and there around broadcasting for ...far too many years Sad The BBC goes through theses stages but the present unsettledness is quite bad. It still survives despite certain managements best efforts to make thing difficult Very Happy

EastEnders

The new set is built/finished. It will be interesting to see what happens to the backlot now. Will they build more Walford as promised, or sell it off to make funds for other silly out of London ideas - not that EE counts as London being in Borehamwood.

^Has anyone ever told you that you complain too much?

Isn't that what TV forums are for? To air views? Or have I got it wrong. As it seems on TV Forum, it is fine to post a comment or opinion, until it goes against other people's opinions, and then you get hammered. Not long to go before I will not have to worry about commenting on here again, as I have always felt since 2020 I have been treading in broken glass when commenting on here.

Its been broken for long time sadly.

Morning Live

Another one of those idiotic decision which has nothing to do with programme presentation and everything to do with politics. The programme works fine where it is so lets make it difficult by moving it to a place where there's no readily available studios for it Rolling Eyes Drives programme producers mad

The Beeb in the past would never have broadcast a daytime show from somewhere other than a studio. Imagine how ridiculous it would have been to do a show from the reception of BBC Birmingham!

As usual we have deliberate misinterpretation of posts on here. Just as I thought people were actually listening to reasoned argument. Oh well.
