RTE News - Ireland

RTÉ 1 posted:
I can feel the cringe factor creeping in already in anticipation of it being a cheap knock-off of Sky News (which in any event is hardly a desirable model to follow regardless).

I can feel the cringe factor creeping in the form of Anne Doyle attempting to do some slowmo walk across the "studio-newsroom". I reckon Dobbie and one or two of the fresher faces might be able to pull it off, but Jesus the rest of them...

RTE News - Ireland

Closing shot was very close and fairly low compared to normal, some sort of divider in place between elements of the "screen", and seems to me like more light coming from the lower part behind the newsreaders.

BBC One: Christmas Ident discussion

Both of BBC Two's idents and the stings are excellent. They're unique amongst the other mainstream channels and eerily atmospheric without any apologetic nods towards the generic cheerful Christmassy stuff. I'm personally very glad to see them back.

BBC One: Christmas Ident discussion

Funny really, I distinctly recall people whinging at the time that Snowball was dull, dreary, crap and non-Christmassy.

Is the BBC pushing Clive Everton out?

stuartfanning posted:
Both amount to the same thing, don't they?

Not really, no. Particularly the latter about him being fired, as there's absolutely nothing in that opinion piece that even remotely supports your assertion.

My real reply should be why did you bother replying on this thread given your negative attitude?

Boredom possibly. That or the fact that you've posted three threads about how the BBC are apparently attempting to shaft Clive Everton, coupled with the fact that there was about as much conclusive information in the first two as there is in this one.

Is the BBC pushing Clive Everton out?

I think the real question is why didn't you use such a hysterical tabloidesque topic title as you did when you posted the same thing on DS

BBC is firing Clive Everton

BBC One: Christmas Ident discussion

The whole point of the idents was supposed to be to make it special around Christmas itself, not 2 weeks before, we will be bored of them by Christmas Day

There's a really bad echo in this place.

Eurovision Dance Contest - Glasgow 2008

Andrew posted:
Isn't the whole programme just something the BBC has invented due to their obsession with dancing?

Therefore it will always be made by the BBC every year?

Right, one does hope you did at the time, apply the same logic to World Idol, as just being something ITV made up to capitalise on its obsession with churning out an annual singer.

Of course that's not at all true, and neither is your suggestion, where it seems that the idea for the Eurovision Dance Contest came from the International Dance Sport Federation (whatever that is) and some Swiss guy; although no doubt inspired by the Strictly Come Dancing induced revival of the the dancing genre of programming in a multitude of countries.

Still though, lets not let that get in the way of a bit of underhand BBC bashing, clearly dancing is their vice and anything related therefore is all their fault.

Channel 4 butchering The Simpsons

davidlees posted:
Channel 4 just messed up the credits on the first episode of The Simpsons. As usual during T4, they play the credits in widescreen so they can fit in an IPP.

The episode had God talking to Col. Sanders over the credits so as the episode was finishing we heard God say "Don't you think its about....." and then Channel 4 switched to widescreen and played out credits for a completely different episode (listing guest stars such as Blink182 who weren't in the episode).

Before the break they showed a clip of the episode coming up, but it was actually the episode that was just on.

The second episode is on now and this IS the episode featuring Blink182, so it looks like the episode order was changed at the last minute.

It will be interesting to see what happens at the end of this episode. Will we hear God talking over the credits for no reason?

It wasn't possible to hear God talking, but it was the credits for the previous episode (Lisa Leslie was credited as the guest star). Strange swap Confused
