The ticker is used far too much now. It should be restricted to Breaking News stories and headline summaries only IMO.

It was thrust into constant use during the elections, where the content covered strategies of the different parties - this was quite useful and effective, however it has lingered on and serves only to clutter the screen with more junk.

It would be of use if used sparingly

BBC North West Tonight

He wouldn't have been in a good enough condition to present the homecoming special, as he and Dan Walker had gone without sleep for near enough 24 hours and had stepped off a plane from Istanbul and been taken straight to Liverpool. No sleep or prep - not good!

So who's been on today? Watching now Phil Hayton is on as usual. Did Sissons just do the 1 hour or did he stay on until 13.00 on News24?

I think someone put some on this thread at the time. It was Good Friday and the Saturday this year they used them, after 8.30am for the last half hour of the programme. I'm not sure if they have been used since?>

BBC Breakfast

Susanna Reid does better on N24 daytimes. A shame she's going off to have a baby, she seemed to have become a regular face and definatly in favour by management, she's been on all the time

It's not the standing pod, its the other side where the rear projection screen is - the usual area for the sport, except they're sat down.

This area of the set has three different sets of seats - a red sofa set, the chairs and mini desk above, and long tall stools as options. The stools come out reguarly, mostly evenings for multi-guest discussions. The red sofas come out from time to time when breakfast is in there (eg Good Friday) and the new chairs are used for Sportsday on a Saturday.

This will surely mean an interesting change in presenter schedules for Sunday.

Currently
09.00 - 13.00 Tim Willcox
13.00 - 17.00 Phil Hayton
17.00 - 19.00 Peter Sissons

Any clues as to the new schedule?

Jon Sopel takes over The Politics Show

I think it works out well for Jon, he's excellent in political areas, its definatly his speciality. Glad to hear too as mentioned that he wont be leaving News 24 - completely agree with the sentiments about him and Louise, they are a great on screen couple and do a grand job.

I'm assuming he will have Fridays off - and why not, most others do on News 24 for some reason! Another regular slot for Tim Willcox beckoning anyway!
