mdta - Sky News HD 1998

If anyone is wondering, the slow download for the video is worth it - looks quite lovely on my widescreen laptop.

BBC Three Rebrand

Initial reaction? Underwhelmed. I can't get excited about this new look for some reason.

Two Pints of Lager... And A Packet of Crisps

The cast must be much better actors than I've ever given them credit for, it was practically flawless. Normally I hate the show thanks to the awful scripting and poor characterisation, but I actually really enjoyed this live episode!

BBC One

Probably on my own here but the start of the music reminded me of Doctor Who's soundtrack, namely Rose's final scene. Love the ident but it's going slightly too far the other way with the sombreness. It's a good news ident but they still don't have a perfect one that doesn't evoke too much feeling one way or the other.

Wales Today - rights issues?

StuartPlymouth posted:
I appreciate that BBC News are trying to make efficiencies by improving the synergy between all platforms, but surely someone should have edited the on-line stream to explain the "sports rights" issue rather than leaving some people (such as the OP) with the idea that there was a problem with their connection?

My connection is just fine, thank you! Wink But that's a very good point, given the shocking quality someone could easily think there's a problem with their PC too. I suppose it's better than nothing but I'd go so far as to say it's pointless. If it were 1999 and I was using a 56k modem, I'd be impressed.

Would it be too much work to simply edit out the sports section? Is any broadcaster actually losing out if people not in Wales get to see very short clips of Welsh sporting events? I'm not all that fussed about Wales Today, it's just the seemingly pointless restrictions being imposed.

Wales Today - rights issues?

I've just tried to watch Wales Today online and for no obvious reason it's limited to a 45kbps lego-vision stream. The website claims it's down to "rights issues"; what on earth would those be?

The Screenwipe Guide to Television

I don't think the rendition of 'Sorry!' at the end was meant to be satirical, just an excuse to hear a very funky theme tune Cool

It's hardly classed as donating when you're exchanging audio files for money. Those MCPS-PRS people took down TV Cream who were doing it for free, I wonder what they make of this little operation?

Virgin News Channel

The Virgin logo is entirely inappropriate for a news channel IMO. Something about it feels like I can't take it seriously.
