The World Cup 2006
The new BBC graphics look pretty slick, should be good to watch them in action tomorrow properly
NB
Absoletly shambolic episode.
Things are not good, to say the least.
Why? Because the staff working in the busy gallery forgot to send a message to the IT guys to put up a break caption instead of the studio feed?
I think it's good, as it shows newsreaders are actually human and do have other voices besides their authoritarian or poor newsreading voices.
Not shambolic at all.
whilst it was interesting and I do enjoy watching what happens behind the scenes I don't think it's 'good'. It looks unprofessional to show the feed when adverts etc. are supposed to be on. What if they'd said something libellous or expressed an opinion on the news that directly before the bulletin? It's not the best thing for the BBC's image.

I notice you just get the newsroom instead of the advert break on the stream at 11 and half past so you got to see the rehearsals etc. They've put up a slide now though...

and it's so much better than the 'midi file' versions they pipe out normally

New look Newsnight
Can't say this new look has impressed me that much at all. Emily Matlis seems a bit too light-weight, but I'm prepared to give that time. I hope Garth Crooks isn't a regular feature, he's rubbish, but that goes for sport in general on newsnight, just doesn't feel right. A bit too much reliance on those large screens - e.g the michael crick advert which could have easily been done full screen avoiding the presenter looking like a lemon. Also don't like these fluffy ends all the time - once a week is ok, but the fact they didn't look at all the papers tonight to waffle on about a crap football song isn't good.

Surely not Live? Highlights like Sky?

Yep, all live matches covered by BBC Television will be shown with additional commentary options etc., along with 4 minute highlight packages of all games. Not bad, eh?!

What happens when....
programmes would cease indefinitely for a year, the express would run conspiracy theories for a decade and Peter Sissons would wear a pink tie

[edit] I suppose they could say it didn't detract from the news, because there isn't any
BBC Breakfast
I thought the rule for dressing for news programmes was that it is not 'distracting', or at least that's what they trot out when quizzed usually. I think it would be hard to jusitfy this outfit, surely?![edit] I suppose they could say it didn't detract from the news, because there isn't any

I guess it will be a full updated package judging from the interactive advert alone, as the two tone strap title is also shown on the wimbledon coverage as well as the world cup stuff, if that's not reading too much into too little information....

This programme is rubbish and why is Emily Matliss now flavour of the month, she's hardly the best. They should concentrate on the quality of their news output, not MTv zippy camera work coupled with puerile summations of the news in a ten-second bursts.
