Arise News SD & HD off air

Not surprised really, I've been watching over the past week, the 'arise news hour' was pre recorded.


To be honest, most of it is pre-recorded. The 'Arise News Now' bulletins are 15mins long and are pre-recorded in the morning and just replayed. The facebook and website pages are still being updated with today and yesterday's Arise News Now up online.

They've still not said which countries/territories will be getting it first but I'm sure we can assume the UK is pretty high up the list!

Anyone know when this channel goes live 24hrs? The press release mentions some time in March for full operations to begin.

Going by the shot of Parliament behind the presenters it looks like it's at Westminster Live Studios. They're on a corner so have a good view down the river and have put studios on several floors. Westminster Live is used by Al Jazeera Arabic, they use a studio with that view for their London based programmes

Is that their permanent home? Their corporate website says they are based at 200 GIR?

I too thought it was coming from 200 GIR, perhaps that's their technical hub. Globecast are uplinking them and they have their Mux there for onward encoding and compression.

Arise News

Arise News is currently testing ahead of full launch, anyone know what they have planned or inside info as to when this channel fully launches? They've currently got an Sky SD EPG placeholder slot showing a mixture of news and other programming, I caught some pre-recorded news output over the weekend which looks a bit flaky but presumably will be ironed out.

They are also doing a fair bit of recruitment on their site and are planning a UK HD launch of their news service too: www.arise.tv/careers

Possibly Newsday will move too so it then won't go to TVC until 0130GMT, gradually reducing the night hours from TVC right down to zero.

I notice now BBC2 is carrying signed programming in the mornings they've taken it off BBC1 overnights weekdays meaning once it all goes fully to NBH we'll get all overnights in HD. Talking of which, I assume even once everything is at NBH we won't see any HD output quite yet as the feed will still go via the SD galleries at TVC for addition of existing News Channel graphics??

BBC World News from New Broadcasting House

So is the first two hours live from NBH with the last hour coming from TVC with studio shots from NBH as I'm seeing now on the NC?

BBC World News - to 14th January 2013

I know by now it's well known the schedule for moving in to NBH for news, both domestic and world, but when does weather move in. I know they mentioned it would be one of the last departments so presume after domestic news sometime late March or April??

Broadcasting House, Salford Quays & TVC

Just watched it earlier on the 1130 Sat morning run, looks very swish. Does anyone know the timescales for World fully moving in to NBH, presumably mid to late Jan? Is domestic news moving end of March?

Presumably Click will now be filmed in HD although we may not see it overnights on BBC One HD until domestic News moves out of TVC and in to a full HD environment in NBH as I guess overnight output is still going through TVC's News Galleries which are SD.

Cheers, don't have access to C5HD so can't check. That leaves just C4 News then from ITN still in SD.

Does anyone know when C4 News is going HD as ITV News is now HD studio-wise (with some domestic report footage also in native HD). I'd have thought C4 News would go first before ITV News as C4 used to more pro-active with new technology but ITV have also invested heavily in HD. Is C5 News in HD yet?
