And the bit just before - quite cutting:

Dr: Union flag?
Rose: Mom went out with a sailor.
Dr: Oh-hooh, I bet she did!

Notice that the street party was held in 'Florizel Street'!

In fact there were quite a few references to "Coronation Street" in last nights episode. The most obvious being "Florizel Street" - being the working title before choosing the name we have today!!!!! Or was it all just word play as it was supposed to the the Coronation!!!! Laughing Laughing

Not that the lead writer, i.e. Rusell T Davies, more than likely requested Mark Gatiss to put some references in, as Russell is a real BIG Coronation Street fan anyway!

Didn't RTD write for Coro in the mid 90s? I'm sure he did... could just be my memory playing tricks on me. Dumb question time: How do you know if the Union Flag is upside down or not?

Another thing: Where the Doctor get that Betamax video tape from? He built the video recorder using parts out of Mr Magpie's shop-- but what about the cassette itself? Or did it come from the Tardis along with the scooter?! Laughing

The NEW Central West and BBC Midlands thread

James Wright presenting Central News today. Has he done any news presenting for Central News or Wales News before, does anyone know? Rolling Eyes

He often presents CN East @ 11:00 or 13:10, when Steve or Sameena aren't doing it. He's very good at it IMO, quite witty. He occasionally stands in for Chaz and Em if they aren't available for Central Weather.

Coronation Street

She and Leanne discussed what to do with the will they found (a copy of the will that Mike made in Spain); the one that would leave everything to Adam. I think Janice kept that copy with her 'for insurance' when she last left the street.

Also Jan had a catfight with Cilla (with Les 'mediating'), in front of the social-worker deciding whether Chesney should be adopted by Les Rolling Eyes Laughing

BBC North West Tonight

Dumb-question time... why is BBC Wales shooting Life on Mars , a programme set and filmed in Manchester? Do BBC Manchester produce dramas such as Life on Mars ?

Coronation Street

Not as bad as Jane Danson (who plays Leanne), who is pregnant in real life. It is quite amusing the ways they are inventing to cover it up. It looks as though she going to give birth to a healthy clip-board in a few weeks!! Laughing

Jack Straw criticises "prancing" newsreaders

[quote="NerdBoy"]Agree with Jack. There's no point to them standing, it just looks very contrived. [quote]

I feel that somebody sitting down reading the news straight into the camera seems more authoritative; rather than somebody standing up 'looking down' on the viewer.

The presenter standing up is sometimes justified if explaining something using a graphics screen. However, standing up all the time and walking around can't be much fun for the newsreaders?! Always makes me think of Melanie Bellamy on Broken News . Laughing

Doctor Who

Of course... without the glasses, David Tennant looks like an omnipresent hamster-like TV presenter; who co-presents a BBC motoring programme with two toussle-haired middle aged men. Must be those brown eyes. Wink Laughing
