Well both new versions of Crossroads were awful. A bit like The Royal Today just cashing in on a popular brand.
Although the original seems to be back 'in fashion' the latest DVD of the original episodes was a best seller on the Network DVD site for the past week or so.
So had Carlton not knackered it up, I guess Granada might have revived it to fill a daytime gap now. Although Granada hated how popular the original was and had it on at 3.55pm when the rest of the UK had it a lot later.
I'm not sure the fans of the show thought it was naff, I mean there is this thing 'people watched it because it was awful' but that doesn't explain why the same 18 million then voted for it and its cast in awards year after year, which it often beat Corrie/ its stars to.
Bullseye was cheap fun, I don't think the new slicker style would work for all game shows, you'd not want Blankety Blank all expensive and polished. It worked by being ropey.
