I'm surprised The Palace did so poorly - I've still got it too watch, but was it more West Wing or Footballer's Wives?

It was more Last Of The Summer Wine, if it got any slower it would have come to a halt.

Britons 'want Del Boy TV return

I don't know where you got the 355pm from ...

From the TV Times, as part of the fan clubs research. Granada may have moved it later on, and I think they did move it eventually, but initally when Crossroads had 2 or 3 episodes a week beating usually one or sometimes both of the Coronation Street episodes they had it in the early afternoon to try and stop that.

ATV and most other regions showed it at 6 or 6.30, some areas, TSW I think and HTV Wales showed it at 5.15.

As for MK2, it was a very nice new show, but should never have been trading in on the Crossroads brand.

Britons 'want Del Boy TV return

the end of crossroads was stupid

Some of the cast and crew thought the 'final' era was just to kill it off so the Nottingham Studios, which were not making money and never really did, could be sold off.

There was also the issue that the Carlton executives/Granada bosses were not that keen on 'Crossroads' anyway, (the boss who brought it back had long gone) so it wasn't wanted.

1982-1997 was a fantastic era, then it went down hill trying to always out-do itself and go one better. If it was going to come back then it needs to get back to its roots and be more like it was in its first decade.

Britons 'want Del Boy TV return

Well both new versions of Crossroads were awful. A bit like The Royal Today just cashing in on a popular brand.

Although the original seems to be back 'in fashion' the latest DVD of the original episodes was a best seller on the Network DVD site for the past week or so.

So had Carlton not knackered it up, I guess Granada might have revived it to fill a daytime gap now. Although Granada hated how popular the original was and had it on at 3.55pm when the rest of the UK had it a lot later.

I'm not sure the fans of the show thought it was naff, I mean there is this thing 'people watched it because it was awful' but that doesn't explain why the same 18 million then voted for it and its cast in awards year after year, which it often beat Corrie/ its stars to.

Bullseye was cheap fun, I don't think the new slicker style would work for all game shows, you'd not want Blankety Blank all expensive and polished. It worked by being ropey.

These seem to happen every few years, I think one in 2004 had Eldorado at either number 1 or 2.

Thankfully its been left defunct.

Moving Wallpaper/Echo Beach

Well I'm not fussed on Echo Beach, Moving Wallpaper is quite good. Having said that, my 75-yr-old gran loves Echo Beach. (enjoying it more than Corrie and Emmerdale at the moment) So it seems Jason Donovan has some older fans.

Coronation Street

I'm not sure there are many pubs these days the small size of the Rovers with a bar that big. It was obviously that far out originally to give 'the snug' a serving area, but since that went there really was no need for such a huge space taken up with bar area.

Most pubs have made bar areas smaller to fit in more seats.. I suppose Corrie call it tradition to keep the layout, however the 1986 fire proved major changes can be made and people just get used to it.

'Now That's What I Call Christmas Television'

Ben posted:
They didn't appear to have addressed the problems with the first three episodes - mainly everything going past far too quickly, although they may have recorded this episode at the same time as the first episodes.

No this was recorded only a few weeks ago, so the problems - they're not seeing them as such it seems.

'Now That's What I Call Christmas Television'

The press release for this episode said:

Christmas soaps including Crossroads, Emmerdale Farm and Coronation Street will be revisited plus other great Christmas day entertainment classics including Morecambe & Wise, Val Doonican’s Christmas Party, Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em and of course The Two Ronnies.

There was only short clips of Morecambe and Wise and Val Doonican in the opening best of clips. Didn't see any soaps in there, unless I blinked and missed it, either way it was hardly revisiting them.

KPM and that other member:

I don't know if its any use but the ATV Centre buildings manager was called Nigel Davis, and was contactable via Alpha Tower's reception.

I'm sure he was aware of everything inside the place, and did assure me that anything of importance would be removed. However whats important to TV bosses and whats important to fans is another matter.

They were lying on the floor in 2005 when I filmed the studios, they've been ripped out the walls.
