ITV plc launches Granada as production brand

I don't think this has anything to do with producing programmes for third parties. It is more a case of using an already well established brand and one which is associated with a strong line programme production stretching back to the late 50s.

No he didn't. He was the regular presenter of the ITV Early Evening News throughout the 90s and only started doing the Lunchtime News in 1999


Before presenting the Early Evening News in 1993/4, he was the regular
presenter of the News at 12.30/One [precursor to the Lunchtime News] for
three years or so.

itv.com relaunch

Has anybody been to the itv website recently (itv.com ? It's been revamped. Does this add weight to the opinions on tomorrow's station ident relaunch for ITV1?

ITN off the air

At about 2040, ITN News Direct 97.3 fell off air. They are broadcasting a repeating ITN promotion. Also, the ITN News Channel - viewed on the internet - has a 'recorded earlier' dog. What's your opinion on what's happened?

BBC London launch date

'The BBC's regional news service in London re-launches next month. Newsroom South East will be axed and on October 1 replaced by BBC London News 1. Other parts of the region, previously covered by Newsroom South East, get their own programme.'

Border Television extends its coverage...

Granada has completed its purchase of Border Television and has updated its website accordingly. Sadly, their grasp of geography seems a little lapse if their description of its broadcast area is anything to go by...

'....Border Television's broadcast coverage extends to Peebles in the North, down to Seascale in the south and includes the Isle of Wight.'

Oxford receives Carlton Central region. It's in the Central News South sub-region which is transmitted from Abingdon

ITV News

Not exactly a new look, but for Good Friday the titles for ITV News have been slightly modified. They follow the 'ITV Weekend News' pattern but without the circular, repeating words at the left during the headline sequence.
When the titles fell into place after the headlines at lunchtime they were simply 'ITV News'
