way OTT. this is a channel already a distant second to BBC News which most people have on mute in a gym/office during the day. won't make an iota of difference to ratings because those outside this forum won't notice any difference.
Sky News: Presentation Discussion
IIm sure viewing figures will suffer as a result of the changes Sky are bringing in which is only going to affect Sky further because advertising revenues will fall as a result. In brining in these changes Sky News are happy to be satisfied with playing second fiddle to BBC News. They no longer will offer something different like Afternoon Live or The Live Desk which was what differentiated Sky. This is a major setback and im sure many of the presenters will not be happy with this new format. I can't imagine Kay Burley will want to present hour after hour from the main desk or Jeremy Thompson will lose his Live at Five slogan (I'm particularly bitter over that one!).

another round of cost cutting? I dread to think how much the Libya and Japan coverage took out of their budget.

that was more to do with the ITV corporate brand completely changing. dont think you can really call it a 'mistake'
ITV News
Personally, I think ITV News made two big mistakes in the 2000s. The first was axing the 2004 rebrand after less than two years in early 2006. That was a solid, coherent and serious brand and they definitely weakened it in 2006. It coincided with a decline in editorial quality and was the first major change under Deborah Turness' leadership

making a big deal out of it after missing out to the Beeb and ABC on speaking to the man himself
Sky News: Presentation Discussion
Sky currently airing Lisa Holland's interview with Saif Gaddafi. Sky's coverage continuing to impress, their best coverage of a foreign story in a long while.

Why? Geoff Shreeves is their regular reporter
The Sport Thread
Almost certainly they'll need to appoint their own version of Setanta/ESPN's Rebecca Lowe to regular reporting duties at games in the aftermath of this too.

Certainly seems to have been a concerted attempt today to shake things up a bit with both Afternoon Live and now NSW making more use of the newswall.
all very well but I wonder who will do the newswall presentations now they've got rid of the headline newsreaders.
in fact, what are they going to do with all those spare newsreaders?
Sky News: Presentation Discussion
Iv noticed the newswall and gallery backdrop are being used tonight for news, sport, weather. A bit like it used to be before the studio revamp a couple of years ago. Wonder if this is an attempt to make it more watchable?

not sure how Dermot can be a breath of fresh air when he's been doing variations on that job for the last 20 years. very disappointing they opted for an exact replica of the Osterley set.

ITN banned from Joanna Yates press conference
have to agree Gavin. saw the report this morning and remember thinking it was pretty shoddily put together. not sure how they let a near 4-minute package made up of a one 'expert's' dodgy speculation get to air. Very amateurish, but banning reporters is a ridiculous thing to do.
