I also do not know why the stairs are only used for Lunchtime Live and not Sky News Today; I can see why they perhaps are not used for Sky News at Ten when the majority of camera crew will be tucked up in bed!

Dermot said he's a traditionalist and likes presenting from the news desk.

Re: Sky's coverage of last night's US plane crash.

I think they suffered a little bit without the newswall. CNNi launched on Freeview last night and they made good use of a screen showing clearly the plane's flight path and where it ended up. Something similar on Sky News would have been effective, perhaps they could have kept Ashish on for this with Anna at the news desk handling interviews etc.

Here's a little challenge for the weekend...

Post a cap of Sky News between 0900-1700 whereby the breaking news ticker is not active.

Rules
1. Time on Sky News clock must be between aforementioned times.
2. "News Alert" tickers do not count, must be 'normal' black, white and red ticker.
3. Deadline Monday 1700.

Good luck. You'll need it.

Why not have Colin on The Live Desk all week and Chris cover for Dermot on Friday? Such a simple solution, but of course, as always, golden boy Brazier gets preferential treatment.

Also did anyone just see Afternoon Live just now? Kay Burley was interviewing an MP, not sure of his name sorry as I only caught the end of it, but he took objection to her when she asked whether or not politicians should be taking holidays given people are losing their jobs with the current recession. There was a bit of to-and-froing, to which she was getting visibly annoyed, and she ended up cutting him off rather abruptly. Good clip for YT if anyone captured it.

I have noticed that someone has supposedly posted the new Sky News Music for 2009 on a certain website. Certainly sounds authentic and Sky News and sounds something like a "triumph remix" which all goes well with it 20th Anniversary next month.

Sounds like something you might hear on a video game rather than a news channel.

Sky News isn't live at the moment. For some reason they are showing a repeat of the 11pm hour.

Anna has replaced Jeremy at 6pm. Rather odd but I'm guessing there is a logical explanation, i.e. Jeremy has another commitment.

Looks like royal correspondent Sarah Hughes will be doing the 15 minute bulletins tonight. My goodness, what is happening to the channel? Rolling Eyes

Sarah-Jane seems very perky tonight on SkyNews.com. Maybe she's getting Anna's old slot.

It does seem strange that Anna is being sidelined like this. Especially as she is normally first choice to cover News at Ten etc when Botting is off which is quite often.

Anna Jones back on daytime doing the business news - adds further weight to the schedule posted on Wikipedia which had Anna Jones on The Live Desk with Colin, extended 12-2pm.

Hope Anna is not Emma's permenant replacement - surely Jason De La Pena would be a better choice?

All the main presenters seem to be back this week except Martin Stanford.

Did you capture any of this?

Footage of the last time it went off is on Youtube here.

Meanwhile on the channel they seem to be running a Sky News Today style format with news summaries every half hour.
