They generally always have been on weekdays, pre-recorded at the weekend. For the last week on Sky the updates were all pre-recorded I think as they wound down the service.
Normally two, one at 7.55 and another shorter update at around 8.58. However if C5 are showing a movie at 9 then they slot in a third at around 9.55.

The Polly updates seem to be live now too.

I do. The programme feels much sharper.

Early days obviously, but based on first impressions, who thinks ITN are actually doing a better job than Sky?I do. The programme feels much sharper.

Five News from ITN
Does anyone have the TV ratings for the first 5 News bulletins from ITN? Especially the 5pm. Thanks!

I'd agree that today's relaunch has been a success and contrary to what some media sites were suggesting at the time, in terms of content and depth there was no noticeable difference to what Sky were offering at all.
Me thinks the extent of the budget cut was greatly exaggerated in the media.

I doubt it, as there is a much improved new logo now where the text '5' and 'news' do not overlap. Maybe a cash strapped Sky News could flog it on eBay, I'm sure some anorak would buy it.

Anyone know if the glass 5 news logo has been kept on for the studio, or was that a Sky only thing? That was introduced in the Kaplinski era and I preferred the worded logo.

Weather graphics are massively improved on Sky's which were terrible. I think the text size is fine.

Matt's stumbling over his words a lot though which is unusual for him.

Looks like Sky weather presenter Nazaneen managed to get a cheeky little reference in regarding the changeover in her final weather forecast for Channel 5:https://twitter.com/#!/Julian5News/status/171355677820854273

The titles are okay. Not completely sold on the music though. As mentioned the theme music of the last Sky News produced 5 News was good, shame they couldn't keep it.
Overall though, a very modern and clean new look which I like. Now it's just the content- and we can't really judge that until we see the full bulletin at 5.

Well, let's start with the positives. The weather graphics are a huge improvement. Really clear and nice. The studio looks good and will look even better when it's not virtual. The titles are okay. Quite handy how it worked out with the football tomorrow. Technically they could have still had a normal bulletin at 5pm as they don't really need 45 minutes of buildup but it gives them time to prepare for Monday's relaunch.

Bit of a low key finish really. At the top of the 6.30 the camera did pan a bit further than usual to give a brief glimpse of the crew, that was it.Quite handy how it worked out with the football tomorrow.
