Eurovision 2021 - Netherlands - NPO/AVROTROS/NOS

Seems like the UK-entry 'Embers' is already leaked by a czech radio station: https://www.youradio.cz/artists/james-newman

International Presentation

An old friend returns to Dutch TV! Loeki de Leeuw was seen between 1972 and 2004 between the commercial breaks of the NPO, in order to cheer up the advertisements. From June, he will in any case be seen during the major sporting events-period (EURO, Tour de France, Olympics) on the 3 NPO channels in the commercials.

Intersting they have a promo package considering on NPO promos are usually done in the style of the channel the program airs on rather than the broadcaster that is responsible for it.

What strikes me about the ZDF is that their news 'ZDF Heute' has had the same design since 2009, except for some minor adjustments.

International News Presentation: Past and Present

'Hart van Nederland', the third largest Dutch news service after NOS and RTL Nieuws, has a new design since Monday. In addition, their editorial staff (Talpa Network) moved from Amsterdam to Hilversum. It is a full green screen studio. In the intro 6 different Dutch cities are hidden. It kind of looks like the Sims, tbh.

Have SMP Amsterdam been utilised again for the music or have they gone a different route this time?

Yes, KH Music (who also made the NPO 1 and 2 channel rebranding) has indeed taken over the music for the program. Here is a small video of how they made the music, including violins and guitars. Smile

In Eurovision Shine a Light, Graham Norton also has a conversation at the end of the show. Chantal, one of the Dutch hosts, hopes that he does not fool them too much Wink, she said in a radio interview.

The Dutch government bans all major events until there is a vaccine. So it will be difficult to organize a ‘normal’ Eurovision in the Netherlands next year...

Eurovision 2021 - Netherlands - NPO/AVROTROS/NOS

Many reports from fan sites that Rotterdam has given the go ahead for the required 2021 contest funding. Nothing seemingly official released though, one additional concern from a couple of sources casting doubt on NPO/AVROTROS/NOS; ability to host in May 2021, so the calendar might be adjusted.

An announcement should be made before the month is out though.

Yes, Rotterdam additional 6.7 million made available for next year. The final decision will probably be made in mid-May:

"In order to give a definitive answer about this, we must first answer a number of organizational, production and financial issues," the organization tells the NOS.

There are also plans that the Dutch healthcare workers will receive free tickets or will be honored extra during the show.

Eurovision 2021 - Netherlands - NPO/AVROTROS/NOS

Thinking about this earlier - and there is technically no need to cancel Eurovision this year - just swallow hard, take a deep breath and downsize it for 2020.

I know this is a tough sell for some around here, but.

Put your presenters in a studio in Hilversum, a couple of hundred medically signed off audience members, and off you go.

No live performances just play out the winning songs from each of the participating nations in video form from either the official video - or the performance that won the national heat.
Jurys vote on Friday. Televote as usual on the 'live' final on Saturday evening.

Have the singer/band entry with the national jury marks announcer in their local studio (sorry, NDR your outdoor screening in Hamburg will probably be cancelled this year anyways) and there we go.

Yes, NOS's Eurovision would be turned into a Saturday peaktime pan European MTV circa 1992 pop video programme, but at least it gets the programme out and keeps the show on the road in difficult circumstances.

Seems like your idea is indeed the back up plan. The director of RTVSLO (slovenia) says today :

Quote:
At the EBU, they are preparing as if Eurovision will be held as normal. I am personally in touch with management who has a plan B where we [the national broadcasters] will become more involved. In Slovenia, this is supposed to be in the TV studio.

If this scenario were to be fulfilled, each member would show their [own TV studio] recording of their performance. That’s what they’re thinking. They are still talking about everything, but in principle they are acting as if Eurovision will be held in Rotterdam [as originally planned].

This would be a terrible disappointment for the (Dutch) Eurovision fans. No side events and no audience at the shows. So, I really hope they postpone it for a year.

Germany, just like the UK, has had an internal selection for a long time. The song was released a few minutes ago:
