BBC Breakfast - 2018 Refresh

NWT studio was originally going to be in the sports centre.
Plans were changed at the last minute when Breakfast was added to the Salford mix. Breakfast didn’t want the real window view for lighting and security reasons.

Wasn't that (the then) DG Mark Thompson who stepped in with that comment re. Security etc?

Do newsreaders get a clothing allowance?

Regional = very little, if none at all. They used to have an allowance.

BBC Breakfast - 2018 Refresh

Come on, what did you expect?
This is the start of evolution, culminating in a new set next year. There’s lots of exciting planning underway.
You can’t expect revolution - and why wreck a winning formula?

Crisp, clean, classy. Looks great.

You talk as if introducing a new look over a period of about 10 months is the normal way of doing things.

The new set will probably be the current set with new screen images

You couldn’t be more wrong.
Wait and see.
Stuart and Custard56 gave kudos

BBC Breakfast

Remember to RI:SE early for it. Don’t want to drone on about it.

(Not just a pun!)

Branding Carlton

Quote:

I make an educated guess that Granada would have bought NWTV had Phil Redmond been successful, or encouraged him to reject the franchise and jump on board as a share holder in Granada. I base that on the approaches made by Granada to Tyne Tees and Yorkshire asking them to relinquish their new licences and join the lower bidding applications that Granada were a part of.

Never heard that before, where did you read that?

26th Anniversary of the biggest shake up in ITV

Granada was never going to lose because of corrie, to many people were made very clear what would happened if it did... including stories of MP mothers making threats...

Phil bloke should have looked elsewhere to bid, making YTV or Anglia?

Phil Redmond was always going to bid for the North West.
I *think* he was involved in a bid against Granada in the 1980s too.
There was a big campaign about a perceived Manchester bias.
As a result that’s the reason Granada set up newsrooms/offices in Liverpool, Blackburn and Lancaster

Coronation Street

The new set areas look great - in terms of the shows history, I just don’t believe those shops have always been there. Surely someone would have referenced the tram station or other shop around the corner. And a Costa on a back street? Never.
I would have gone for something a bit newer, apartments with a gym, at least it’s more realistic. Victoria Street terraces
demolished for this etc
