Now Mastermind needs a new presenter

Jonwo posted:
I've not watched it myself but Jon Snow has a show called Very Hard Questions on More4.

It's painfully slow and he's not a very good host.

Plagiarised Programmes

I remember somebody from ITV emailing UKGameshows.com asking us not to mention the painfully obvious fact that their Great British [whatever] Tests were an attempt to ape the BBC's Test The Nation. I had no qualms about ignoring that plea.

Memories of Regional Programmes

BBC Aberdeen's Beechgrove Garden is another example, (or has that always been Scotland only ?)

I think it's always been regional, but sometimes repeated nationwide. Lately Beechgrove and Landward have been Sunday morning filler on BBC Two, though they're both off at the moment.

Now Mastermind needs a new presenter

Back to Huw Edwards and has he ever done a quiz show.

Only a Radio 4 panel game back in the 90s.

Coronavirus - Impact on live/recorded shows

Keeping up public morale and mental health is an important part of the pandemic response

It's a bit late for that now.

Coronavirus - Impact on live/recorded shows

Have the BBC already run out of socially distanced episodes of Bargain Hunt already?

Wouldn't be surprised. Not so many antiques fairs and auctions actually being held this year.

Oneness on lockdown - new idents for BBC One

The current Choir Singers ident is perhaps the most annoying ident in the history of TV, and that includes normal Oneness idents!

Particularly the irritatingly smug woman on the right who looks like the irritatingly smug woman who used to be in The Beautiful South, but probably isn't, which means there's TWO of them, and even if we beat coronavirus and global warming, we'll still have to live with horror of that knowledge for the rest of our lives.

Television About Television

There used to be a magazine called 'The Box' which took a fun, and in depth look at television programmes - it lasted all of two editions (just as I had sent in a postal subscription a week before it closed) and I thought a TV version of that would be good.

Three editions in fact, the last of which tells us that starting with the next issue, they're going from bi-monthly to monthly. Tch, you can't trust anyone these days.

Coronavirus - Impact on live/recorded shows

Last night an announcer on BBC One Scotland told us "socialising is vital for primate survival". Having supported an authoritarian anti-socialising policy for the last month and a half, now they're actually gloating about it.

Oneness on lockdown - new idents for BBC One

A while back, BBC Four changed their multiple image idents to make them less good. This looks like a couple of steps further along that process.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

That's Smith who wanted it in the charts. Although I'm sure Cowell would have been keen for that to happen too.

Coronavirus - Impact on live/recorded shows

There appears to be two S17 E14s on iPlayer.

It looks as though they renumbered the planned E12 to E14 (the "next time" teaser on E11 relates to the episode shown last night, including clips of the now-redacted virus killer pitch) but failed to do the reverse. Though oddly it's E13 that has Evan Davis' end-of-series wrap-up at the end.
