Good Morning Britain - 2015 Refresh/Tweaks

Good Morning Britain is known to be a lighter alternative to BBC Breakfast, but for the newsy parts of GMB, they could integrate with ITV News to share reporters and resources but keep the lighter side of GMB there towards the end of the show to please current viewers.

The amount of viewers could decrease with ITV News integration, but there isn't any breakfast show lighter than GMB. GMB will always be lighter than BBC Breakfast so people who watch GMB now will likely continue watching.

Good Morning Britain - 2015 Refresh/Tweaks

& a play of the theme tune to end the show!

I hope they do this at the end of every show.

'AM' graphics

I completely agree, The Gallery is a place where people should feel they can post new ideas for TV Pres without being treated badly. There are some not so good mocks which unfortunately receive some unnecessarily harsh comments. A lot of you leaving those comments are capable of designing some really good mocks, so you have the experience to help new mockers learn.

Leaving rude comments, some completely unrelated to the original post can make people leave the forum and not want to come back. If you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

This is his first mock. It's certainly not the best mock on here, but that's where we can step in and suggest improvements that can be made, rather than trying to scare new members away like some of you seem to be doing.

'AM' graphics

I understand that this is for an online show, but if you want to do things properly, you should really look at existing breakfast show graphics such as BBC Breakfast and Good Morning Britain. They use a consistent colour palette and font to achieve a professional look.

You seem to be using a jarring colour scheme and a huge range of different fonts.

Look at the work that went into designing the Good Morning Britain graphics by clicking here. This will hopefully give you an idea of how to start and develop your graphics.

My graphics mocks aren't brilliant but I always look at existing graphics in use on TV and other mocks on TV Forum for inspiration. That's always a great place to start.

BBC News Music Remakes

Hi, I haven't posted any updates on this thread for a long while now, and today, I am posting an updated version of my BBC News Countdown remake.

This is version 9 and the last version I posted on this forum was version 7. I felt version 8 was too similar to version 7, so I didn't bother posting it.

The main focuses of the improvements this time round are the bass and percussion. I have really looked into the more advanced instrument settings in Garageband to achieve a better bass line. These changes help make the music as a whole feel more authentic. I have chosen to upload this to YouTube as unlisted so you can visualise how my music and the BBC News countdown graphics would work together. There's also a link to an audio file in the spoiler.

This will be the last update to any of my music recreation threads for a very long time. I will no longer have access to a Mac from today onward as I am leaving school soon. I did mention on my Good Morning Britain music thread that I have started looking at different Garageband alternatives for Windows, but I have now decided that I will stick with Garageband and come back to using the software when I buy a Mac in the future.

Please continue to give me feedback, as I will use it when I update these music recreations in the future. When I do buy a Mac, I will be able to use Garageband plugins and use a more up to date version of Garageband which will hopefully help me improve my music a lot more.

Good Morning Britain Music Remake

Here's an excerpt of a recreation of the News at Ten closing theme. I made this way back in 2009 using the same (?) version of GarageBand you've been using. It's not brilliant but it's a hell of a lot better than my early attempts. Hopefully it will give you an idea of what can be done using even limited software. All the usual instruments and a couple of additional AUs.

That sounds really good. It sounds like the trumpet instrument in your recreation is an AU though? As I have said in the past, the main thing I'm getting wrong with my GMB remake is the trumpet sound. There are things I can fix without AU's if I spend more time, but the melody would probably require an AU to perfect the piece.

Yeah that's been said on these posts countless times and nothing changes.

Nothing can change. I've made the best remakes that I can using Garageband. There are limits as I can't use any plugins to get more instruments to create a more authentic sounding remakes.
It is quite obvious that music made in Garageband isn't going to sound exactly like the original, especially advanced music such as GMB. Garageband doesn't have a trumpet sound similar to the one in the GMB theme, so I have to work with what Garageband does have. The Garageband version I use is from 2010, so is probably missing modern features and instruments.
Like I say, I am looking into different music production software for Windows at the moment as soon I will no longer have access to a Mac.

To me the first one sounds like GMB does Wimbledon.

Probably because of the trumpet instrument in Garageband. I have tried to mix in some synths and strings to reduce the effect but then it sounds too light. I had the exact same problem recreating the ITV News music in Garageband.

My remake of the GMB 2014 music may sound slightly like that due to the poor brass/trumpet instrument selection in Garageband. I don't think my GMB 2015 music remake does though.

I am currently looking at different software at the moment, so hopefully I can fix this issue soon.

Good Morning Britain Music Remake

Hi TV Forum,

I have been working on my Good Morning Britain music remakes over the past few months and today I am posting 2 pieces of music.

Here is a new piece - version 1 of my remake of the original Good Morning Britain music from when the show launched in 2014:
http://files.jamescraker.com/Music/Good%20Morning%20Britain%20Remakes/GMB%20News%20Mix%201.mp3
Unfortunately, Garageband's Trumpet/Brass instrument selection isn't the best, so it is difficult to get some of the melody sounding right.

Here is a slightly updated piece - version 3 of my 2015 GMB music remake:

Good Morning Britain Graphics Mock

I know what you're thinking - Yes, this is YET ANOTHER Good Morning Britain graphics mock, but it is aiming to expand on an idea that people seem to like in the Good Morning Britain thread.

Over recent weeks, Good Morning Britain have started using more 'square' graphics in certain places. I really like this as it fits in with ITV News a lot better. My mock aims to bring square graphics elsewhere to other graphics in the show, such as the headline graphics.

Some of the graphics, such as the opener will remain the same, as I feel that the current opener to the show is quite good.

Another thing I have worked on is the wipes. I am aiming to bring a more consistent design to the wipes, for example, the headline, live, vote 2016 and breaking news wipes all wipe to the shape of the Good Morning Britain logo.

Here's the video:

I have been working on these graphics on and off since last year, but I came back to them around 3 weeks ago to build on ideas and put all of the graphics together. There are some slight alignment issues with the 'Vote 2016' headlines which I will sort in the next version. I have used the headlines along with some video and audio from Friday's show (Television Memories, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KcZfmsNC7c).
