Dancing on Ice 2021

Joe-Warren Plant has left the competition due to testing postive for COVID-19.

Caught it from Rufus did he? This shows that the isolation protocols aren't working. The show is in trouble.

End of the road for UTV?

Could be worse. At one point it was called Granada Tonight - and replacing the region name with North West would result in the name of the BBC counterpart, North West Tonight. I wonder if that's why they reverted to Granada Reports a few years before the local news graphics went generic?

Wandavision

I've been thinking about watching this, but I've not seen any other MCU stuff- do you need to be familiar with it and the characters to understand it and know what's going on, or does it stand well by itself?

If you don't mind being spoiled on what happens in the movies, there's a short (7 minutes-ish) show on Disney+ called Legends which runs through the backstory of Wanda and Vision using relevant clips from the films. The films they appear in are Age of Ultron, Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame, though the more of the others you've seen the more rewarding little bits you'd pick up.

There's also a couple of characters that show up from the Thor and Ant-Man films.

Coronavirus - Impact on live/recorded shows

Jonwo posted:
I assume the Wipeout name cannot be used anymore as it's owned by Banijay for the Wipeout/Total Wipeout format.
No, it can. That's why the UK version of that show is called Total Wipeout. Banijay couldn't just call it Wipeout in the UK.

Though it isn't impossible for unrelated formats to have the same name. After Take Your Pick ended, Michael Miles presented Wheel of Fortune. It wasn't the same format as the one later hosted by Nicky Campbell.

Coronavirus - Impact on live/recorded shows

I think it’s done well as it’s a word game, rather than question-based, so it does feel slightly more distinctive compared to Tenable. Apart from Countdown, I can’t really think of another established word game currently.

I wonder if ITV would want to revive any other of the 0925 shows it used to show? Clearly Lingo back in 1988 wasn’t a hit at all. For a show to be revived after 33 years is probably a record on British TV? Even the likes of Take Your Pick in the 90s hadn’t been dormant for that long.

Certainly be good to see a bit more variety. I know Tipping Point is popular, but I feel it could be occasionally rested in the 4pm slot.

Also, I know it wasn't ITV, but having watched a lot of it on YouTube in recent weeks, I think a revival of Wipeout would fit in very well to the ITV Daytime schedule. There aren't enough shows on TV today with booby prizes!
I was going to point out that Wipeout was a BBC show - but it's production company was Action Time, so ITV does own it.

If people like word games, why not CrossWits?

Coronavirus - Impact on live/recorded shows

If it's doing better than Tenable has in that timeslot recently, then COVID isn't really a factor. The viewing figures should logically be higher than in 2019 no matter what they're putting on then, so if Lingo is doing better than Tenable was last year (especially during the Spring lockdown) then I'd say it really is a hit.

Should BBC One become... just BBC?

It’s not just Carlton that had bags:

When was that site last updated? They have something that uses Adobe Flash on the front page! Shocked

Coronavirus - Impact on live/recorded shows

Understandable, as they'd usually use cards with the UK flag on one side and Australia or New Zealand's on the other. If they're moving from, say, London to Yorkshire, which are both in England, that's impossible.

Dustin Diamond (Screech in Saved By The Bell) has died.

The Waterloo Road one was especially ridiculous, because they actually moved in the storyline, and continued to refer to GCSEs, which you don't have in Scotland.

Grange Hill had the school destroyed in an explosion and rebuilt, explaining why it looked different when production moved to Liverpool, but it was still meant to be in London.

Yeah, it's much easier to for relatives to visit you when you're still in the same country, so the messages from home segment won't have the same emotional impact.

Starting to come across more dangerous than The Jump.

To be fair, one of the three withdrawals was because of a positive COVID test, not an injury.

The Masked Singer UK...2021

Olly Murs? Hmm, do any of the clues relate to Deal or No Deal? He was famously on it twice, first as a civilian before he became famous, and then again as a celebrity.
