National Television Awards

Probably go to a safe pair of hands then - Emma Willis or Davina McCall maybe.

I can't see either doing it. They'd probably go for Roman Kemp.

Don’t think he’s anywhere near big enough and doesn’t present anything else on ITV.
Wouldn't be surprised if that changes soon though, after I'm a Celebrity 2019. He got to the final, so he must've gained some new fans. They just need to find a format for him.

The Sport Thread

Safety concerns? Surely if it was safe enough for the match to be played it was safe enough for the camera crew?

Presumably they weren’t playing the match on top of some scaffolding.
If TV crews have to use scaffolding instead of having dedicated facilities, then the LOI have some pretty poor regulatory standards for stadia. That would be unacceptable even in England's National League (the fifth tier - formerly the Conference).

Caroline Flack has died

Remember when News of the World was just tits, bingo and soap star affairs then it was discovered they where hacking dead teenager's mobile then the death star exploded and they were forced to change.
No, they weren't, it was even worse. Their advertisers pulled out and they were forced to cease publication. It's lucky for News Corp that The Sun and The Times weren't dragged down with it.

TV Forum

Has anyone here read Doctor Who Magazine's 2020 Yearbook? There's a 2002 screengrab of Internet Explorer showing a website called Dalek 6388 (which still exists today), but it appears to be a doctored image, as the address bar and header instead refer to TV Home Forum. Yep, this website we're on now got an accidental plug.

It wouldn't happen to be this one would it…

Not sure how/why this was on my old hard drive, but a snapshot of the forum's homepage way back in December 2001 - complete with Windows 98/Internet Explorer 5 surroundings!

*

(I'm not sure whose birthday it was on MSN Messenger)
That's the browser frame, yeah (even has the same Birthday Today MSN tab on the taskbar at the bottom), but a different website (the Dalek6388 one I mentioned) had apparently been Photoshopped in.

New Sky channels: Crime, Comedy, Documentaries, Nature

Erm...?

Well, of course they have used them now for Sky Comedy, but they didn't ever use those colours before. The channels have always used various shades of red or blue for a lot of their channels. They have rarely used orange and don't think they have ever used purple. Grey and pink were used briefly as well. They have now used yellow for crime and green for nature.
Not in the current style. But both Sky One and Sky Movies were purple in the tombstone era.

When did Sesame Street move to Channel 4?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sesame_Street_in_the_United_Kingdom

The wikipedia article says it was first on Channel 4 in 1987. "Channel Television" is an ITV region.

Yet the 1986 in British television page says it was the former year...
(Also, 86th post).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1986_in_British_television#Channel_4
Fixed - moved it to the 1987 in British television page.
