BBC One English Regions opt outs

I don’t like the pan regional breakfast bulletins from Hull, I thought it was fine separate

Having gone to the bother of creating the full Leeds/Hull split for all bulletins in the first place, I'd be interested to know why the blithering flip the Breakfast bulletins subsequently reverted to being pan-regional at all. (And why from Hull, considering that the original pan-region was Leeds-based)
Wouldn't Hull's studio facilities be newer, and thus more up to date?

The Gay Byrne Irish Television Thread

Also, I believe the preschooler market is an easy target, so that RTÉ Jr. "should" rate rather well; closing it down would be probably a disappointing move for many parents too, especially since RTÉ Jr. doesn't carry advertising
Yeah, Cbeebies is one of the few British channels that doesn't broadcast in Ireland, right? As long as that's the case, RTE Jr should be safe.

BBC Three returns to TV on BBC One

So Broadcast are saying the BBC3 on BBC1 block has actually seen a drop in the share of 16-34s compared to the regular BBC1 repeats that were in the slot last year. IPlayer requests for BBC3 shows are up by 40% however.

Sounds like it did it's job then - raised awareness that those programmes exist. It's not surprising that people are watching them on iPlayer and not TV. But if you don't see a programme in the TV listings, you won't be looking for it on iPlayer.

New look Newsnight

*

If this is what they're going for then I'm sorry I really dislike it. But I'll hold full judgement until the full launch.

The two intersecting N's just look odd to me. They have pointed ends where the Newsnight font doesn't, just looks a bit disjointed. I also read it like AV as much a NN. Having the N's in the middle breaks the title up and makes it read as "News Night" but as far as I can tell it's still "Newsnight".
The very first Newsnight logo had the name on two lines... you can see it on the bottom left of that screenshot.
