Change of TV last 20 years

Yes the problem is that you can't rely on streaming media, if you've got a physical disc or a file it's always there to watch/listen. That's not so with stuff you have to stream, their content won't always be there available to you, it's at their whim or due to changes of rights ownership.

Channel 5 general discussion

If by Inside Chernobyl, you mean the Ben Fogle one then I can thoroughly recommend, it's very good indeed. Fascinating

The ITN Nostalgia Thread

The end music is a pretty big clue. It seemed to me that ITN closing sequence was somewhat ponderous, but despite that they simply never got to the colour prod. Generally ITN will drop their production people credits rather than risk overrunning.

They didn't cut off much though did they? The Editor credit was normally the last thing, I'm pretty sure there wasn't an 'ITN Production' caption at the end of the bulletins in those days.

I always found it curious that ITN bulletins have always had credits, but regular BBC news bulletins never have. I've never known why

Well, now here's an example of a News at Ten with an ITN end cap, and also a trigger hapy Thames.

That's from 1981, but you're right, a bit of You Tubing in the late 70s reveals no end caps

That's more just part of the titles though. The ITN logo of course being used throughout the programme presumably meant there was no need for a caption at the end

Eggheads moving to C5

Ironically, 5 Eggheads could end up being made in the same studio at Riverside as House Of Games, as I suspect, now on another channel, and free of being forced to make it in Glasgow.

Isn't House of Games still made in Glasgow, or did that change because of Covid?

SNL was clearly anti-Trump during his presidency and they continually hit it right every time.

Thing is that nothing apart from those media with an agenda and connections to his party would be anything other than anti-Trump. There was little positive to say about his time in power.

There was also no shortage of things to make comedy about, it was like shooting fish in a barrel

Outside of Rachel they weren't and looking at that guys Twitter profile shows exactly where he stands politically.

Why does how you think he stands politically (I can't determine that myself) have to do with the reliability of what he says?

Sounds like he's qualified to know what the situation was

I wonder how long it'll take Channel 4 to pick up The Mash Report?

Mash Report has already been poached by someone (before the news today) and it’s not C4.

Really? So does that mean that it wasn't actually axed by the BBC, just poached. Or did the BBC get rid of it and someone else get in quick?

The Mash Report reminded me of The 11 O'Clock Show. You watched it because the Ali G (Sacha Baron Cohen) sketches were exceptional, but the rest of the sketches, including early Ricky Gervais material wasn't great, although some of the Daisy Donovan material was ok.

Mash in comparison I watched for the Rachel Parris segments, yet the rest of the content never really hit the spot. If you're going to do left-wing skewed comedy, it has to hit the spot and it rarely did.

It was a bit hit and miss, normally the first half was better than the second.

It's worth remembering that it did feature and launch the career of one of the country's few explicitly right-wing comedians, Geoff Norcott.

I'm not sure it was/is 'left-wing skewed' anyway, it's just that the political party in power during its time on air were extremely right-wing. Satire isn't meant to agree with those in charge

The Mash Report wasn’t exactly well loved!

By some it wasn't, but it did 4 series which is pretty good for a comedy series these days so they must have been doing fairly well.

It's real value is online, it did what so many other programmes try and fail and that's get their content going viral. Some of their items, especially the Rachel Parris monologues were absolutely everywhere online the morning after they went out. It was social media gold
