UKTV Rebrand and new channel

UKTVG2 was an awful name so you weren't as aware of it.

Err no. I was aware of UKTVG2

When chris says "you" he means "one" (as in "people in general"), rather than literally YOU personally, Gavin!

And, it is indeed the case, that "most people" probably weren't all that aware of UKTV G2.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but is S4C's Newyddion using new Lambie-Nairn titles and graphics yet?

I watched the start of Newyddion on Friday, and they were still using:

UKTV Rebrand and new channel

So the ITV brand pre-2002 comprised a family of channels/stations with their own individual names- and UKTV as a brand could do the same.

The ITV situation was completely different. People only received one of the regions, not all 16. Whether you received Central or LWT, that was ITV for your area. It wasn't necessary to reinforce the ITV brand when there were only 4 channels.

UKTV is a collection of channels which are received simultaneously. If you want people to know that they are from the same company then you have to be rather blunt about the branding. Of course, UKTV may wish to have them operating as isolated entities - but I would view that as a backward step when they've just spent 4 years banging on about the UKTV family of channels.

So would I Smile I think they really have just let the whole "Dave" thing go to their heads.

UKTV Rebrand and new channel

I have NEVER heard anyone refer to "UKTV" anything.

So? Until you have spoken to every single member of the UK population, how do you know that there aren't people out there who would say "UK TV (suffix)"? I certainly do. I suspect that I'm in a minority, but that's besides the point.

It's "faux pas" not "phopar"! (dictionary.com) It's an example of untranslated French that gets used in English (like "c'est la vie") Smile

ITV wants to axe some regional news services

623058 posted:
its strange that the top 2 Local news services in UK belong to

UTV
STV

which of course do not belong to ITN

Erm, none of the ITV1/"channel 3" regional news programmes are anything to do with ITN, surely? (Albeit that one of them - namely London Today/Tonight - is housed at Grays Inn Road)

Blackadder to return in 2010?

Spencer For Hire posted:
Rowan Atkinson has refused to take part in a reunion show.

...it's going to be a standard clip show interspersed with talking heads, rather than a new episode.

Those two elements go hand-in-hand really. Mr Atkinson appearing "as himself" (e.g. an interview) on-camera is "rarer than rocking-horse sh*t". If it had just been an episode (in-character only) I expect he'd have probably been more keen. It was never gonna be very likely that he'd partake in a 'Allo 'Allo-style reunion show.

I don't really understand why though. I can understand Mr Atkinson not wanting to give a Parkinson (etc) type interview, as he presumably wants to keep his private life, er, private. But, talking about Blackadder isn't the same as talking about his own family or childhood or whatever, so I do find it a little bemusing that he's quite as interview-resistant as he is.
