Breaking News

I think I read somewhere that the BBC want to verify breaking news first, and then re-verify it. Maybe that's why they are slower. And I think ITV NC are slower because they watch Sky News to get their news updates.

Sky News - better or worse now?

TROGGLES posted:
BBC London posted:
Pardon 'Chav News'?

I thought that was the ITV NC.

How can you say SKY news is 'chav news', what do you watch then?
Bet its BBC News 24, oh how last century!

Much better than watching Murdochs right wing facist view of the world - I prefere to get the most unbiased news available rather than his American rules the world rubbish. Sky news is for chavs and Sun readers - if it is possible to read the Sun.

Don't be so ignorant. Sky News cannot be biased because of regualtions in this country forbidding it. Therefore they have to be impartial. Perhaps you are confused, it seems like you have been watching Fox News.

Are you inferring all the people who awarded Sky News as news channel of the year for 4 years running as chavs, because you would be inferring that a large portion of the public are chavs, doubt they'll too pleased about that.

By the way, perhaps you don't realise that Murdoch is not American, but Australian.

Best Double Act

PMDAVIDWILLIAMS posted:
I agree.. what happened to 'Sir' Bob Friend? Best double acts for me are (were) Bill Tunrbill and Sian Williams, Sophie Raworth and Jeremy Bowen, Alistair Stewart and Fiona Foster from London Tonight back in the day..... and probably now Chris Eakin and Jane Hill on News 24 Tonight. Nobody i think looks good together at the moment. Having said that I would love to see Huw Edwards and Jane Hill together... maybe on the Ten?

Yes, Bob Friend and Anna Botting, even Bob and Lisa Aziz. Bob has retired by the way.

Sky News

I think that some of the BBC suits would love to up the large studio wars!

That sounds worryingly plausible.
One year from now...
"Live from the Sky News Arena..."
Three years from now...
"Live from the Sky News City..."

LOL. That would change the meaning of 'Sky WORLD News'.

Incidentally, I think people are being so critical, or feel let down by the Sky News relaunch because:
[a] We have been waiting for over a year to see what it looks like; and in that long time we have all built up an idealistic and perfect view of what we would like to see, therefore anything less would naturally be an anti-climax.

[b] Presentaion wise it is very different to what we are used to with a news channel. And lets face it, this country is adverse to change.

If you think about it, the news content isn't really any different to what they were providing months prior to the relaunch.
Give it a few months, let them get over the New feeling and need to show off and they will get the mixture right.

Finally, BBC News 24 really isn't that special either, a few months ago certain people would be complaining about it, now that Sky News has changed itself so as to improve itself in the long term, everyone seems to have reversed their opinons. How typical.

Sky News coming up Menu

Am I the only one who thinks it looks like the menu they used in the 1998 era.

Sky News

World News Tonight is disappointing, I think the programme should stay, but they need to find someone else who can handle presenting. Maybe James Ruben will improve. I was hoping for something more along the lines of The World on BBC 4. Perhaps Zeinab Badawi should present World News Tonight on Sky.

I think they need to be less gimmicky and more quality. And I really think they should axe one of the Sportslines for a business programme.

I don't mind having different format programmes, it breaks the schedule up, but they do need to find the right chemistry, which they will.

Sky News

I like the new look, the raphics are fresh ad clean, given a few eeks of tweaking and finding their feet, i think it will be much better.

Much need refresh.

Possible Sky News Video project

Very good, bit similar to the 1998 intro though in layout.
