BBC News Studios

Sounds bit silly upon review, I just meant to refer to the precision and repeatability of the shots, so they could take more difficult ones that give the best impression of a larger space. I'm sure the wide lens will be what makes the most difference.

The cameras are always a fixed distance from the presenter as they are on rails, so shape and structure of the shots are limited to xy + magnification(zoom) rather than the xyz + zoom option a manual camera can offer.

The robotic cameras will be even more effective at maintaining the illusion.

How will they achieve this?

Except that studio D in the diagram is in the wrong place.

The only floorplans i've seen are for the ground floor and basement newsroom, along with a similar cross section to that, which was posted many moons ago.

BBC London's offices are on the 2nd floor of the Egton Wing... so where is Studio D, and are they already using it?

One more question... Studio K, on the 2nd floor, right next to the Business Unit. Is this the same studio we've seen used by World Service for their Russian news bulletin?

Studio D is directly behind studio B although across a corridor.

The Russian service comes from an area on the 4th floor

I've seen even worse on South Today, one of those pointless 'one journalist interviewing another' pieces, with one sat in the newsroom, the other in the studio.

BBC London used to do them occasionally with someone in the newsroom even though the studio was in the newsroom... you could see the guest over the shoulder of the presenter

Doesn't World do dtls with a guest sitting a few feet away from the presenter?

Jools said in the introduction that it was the last time they would be broadcasting from there because it was closing down (despite the fact that it's only closing for redevelopment and the studios will be reopening after this). Does this mean that the show won't be returning to TVC after the redevelopment?

It probably will.

The idea that TV Centre is closing down and will be redeveloped as flats or something is quite firmly engrained. The fact that it will stay as TV studios seems to have passed most people by. See also 'the BBC has moved to Manchester' which is heard lots these days and of course is wrong too.

Incidently despite what Jools said at the beginning of the programme, it hasn't always come from studio 1, when I worked there it was usually in 3

Although the new owners do not want any annoying late night recording disturbancies to the new residents. All recordings to be finished by 8PM.

BBC Newsnight

That was quite impressive how many guests they managed to fit in though. I don't know if TC7 could have held around 9 guests that easily without it looking cramped.

It often did up to 30

Yep - they're on the level above the newsroom on the right as you look out of the back of Studio E.

They are directly 180 degrees from the back of studio E. (with 30 degree variations depending on which of the three presentation areas are available.) Final migration from W12 is March although it begins in January.

BBC Breakfast

She was excellent today with the dinosaur on the plaza on Breakfast - so funny & entertaining. They didn't have an outside space at TVC which was as flexible as the plaza has been. Plus MediaCityUK and the Quays looked great on camera this morning.

Hmm, you may have forgotten these:

The Blue Peter Garden (whole programme once was broadcast from here)
The Star Terrace
The Stage 6 decking area
The Horseshoe
The Donut
The upper car park
The roof stage 6
The roof stage 3
The roof, East Tower

All TVC locations used by breakfast offering diverse options.
