Broadcasting House, Salford Quays & TVC

Unconfirmed rumours have suggested that TC7 will close first because that's not owned by BBC News. .

TC7 is long term rented from BBC Resources. It has an option until November 2012. After this, as it is SD, it will be mothballed.

Soooo... Rumour of World moving to BH on an earlier date, how will the 2130-2200 be shown on the NC? World news be broadcasted or a presenter in N9, N8 or TC7?

Also overnights on the NC? Will they come from the World News at BH or presenting from other TVC studios then?

When does World News & NC actually going to move to BH?

To answer your questions in order:
Studio A.
Studio E.
November2012 and NC in Jan/Feb 2013.

The Daily (& Sunday) Politics

And will look much better - TC7 looks really, really terrible when set up for the Sunday Politics.

To be pedantic, it is the set in TC7 rather than TC7 itself that looks terrible. The Barcos have rarely looked good.

TVC was built in stages, although they were roughly planned from the start.

Indeed...my point was that TVC designed from the start with an intention to expand beyond the core. The designers aimed with stages 1-3 to have a "Factory". Stages 4 (News) 5 and 6 were added although offered little extra to the first 3 stages.
On the other hand, Granada was developed as needs evolved and there was a financial case for expansion.
That was the difference I was trying to make.

I don't want this to degenerate in to a granada/tvc tit for tat thread......my point was that TVC was built as a concept from the beginning although the earlier built Granada was added to and enlarged modularly as and when need necessitated. Two great buildings, both with a history and both should be maintained in some form rather than demolished and lost.

Yep, definitely the first purpose built TV studios in the UK. So I would say more iconic than Television Centre!

They are quite different. TVC was a total factory in television production. Chefs use the phrase "nose to tail". Well that describes TVC in television form and what it could produce totally in house.

Kevin Bakhurst to leave BBC News

A big big loss...I am sure that he will be back though. The BBC often likes people to go elsewhere before returning in even more senior positions.

They have already back peddled on selling TV Centre .

Isn't that simply because the "preferred buyer" pulled out.

Yes, that image looks as though it comes from 2007, when News 24 still occupied N8.

World also have used some "engraving" over the glass since they took over N8..
Ok, its supposed to look like engraving although in reality its a transfer.

even the smaller scale shows like The One Show that would have used a smaller studio can be more cheaply accomodated in White City.

Although the rumour has it that The One Show is moving to W1.

How long will they be at BH before somebody decides a wholesale relaunch of BBC News is needed, rendering the newsroom scene dated?!

Although the lighting installed in the W1 newsroom can change the colour brand to whatever is required....

Do the Pillars and Columns or whatever in N8 and N9 actually support the roof or are they just for Aesthetic Reasons?

If they could have been shifted, they would have been.
