Yes when extra troops were sent to Afghanistan he reflected on teh history of the troubles over the years.

It was good to see Sandy Gall on ITV News a few weeks back. Also Ken Rees reporting on the Yorkshire Ripper case. It seems ITV News like to call on the old guard to do a spot of nostalgic reporting.

ITV News has a reporter in Iraq by the name of Rob Smith. Is he new? I just haven't seen him before.

Who's been doing the ITV Weekend News recently? I've missed it for the last few weeks. When Andrea Catherwood returns, will she reclaim the weekend bulletins? If she does, there certainly will be a surplus of presenters at ITN. I suppose some of them may have to return to reporting.

The past few weeks it has been James Mates, Nina Hossein & Steve Scott. Steve is on duty this weekend.

They appear to be operating on a rota with them each doing one out of three weekends. Although now Nina appears to be doing the sport, it could be divided between just Steve and James. I doubt Nina will last on the sport for long, for example every Friday she does the Lunchtime News and the Evening News, surely they can't expect her to do the News at 10.30 as well on a Friday.

I would suspect Nina is only standing in until the new regular sports presenter starts, maybe Monday.

Nina said tonight that they wil be reporting on Ellen MacArthur's next sailing trip exclusively on ITV News at 10:30. So it looks as if the the Nightly News is not going to be used, at least not for a good while yet.

Could Barrymore return!

I wouldn't be surprise if he turns out to be ITV's replacement for Paul O'Grady.

I feel both will forget how they parted Company. Working together would be an advantage to both.

In Anglia(W) we could win money, not that much, for guessing what the background was each week.

Did the other regions do that?

You didn't have to guess. You just had to listen to the newsreaders tell you the anwser before they asked the question.

Dancing on Ice

Brekkie Boy posted:
It is blatantly Strictly Come Dancing on Ice, down to the graphics and voting mechanism, but it is quite a while since ITV first mentioned the idea as Stars on Thin Ice.

Anyhow regardless of that, surely if the professional dancers were actually any good they'd be in training for the Winter Olympics now, wouldn't they!

Only amateurs compete in the Winter Olympics

Intresting to note that the view from Milton Keynes features the Point (the red triangle building home to the first multiplex cinema in the UK) but the outlines of the triangle is illuminated red but appears to be turned off in the view but it could also be for the fact that the place has been dormant for over a year now Laughing

Only part of the Point is dormant. The Cinema (now Easy Cinema) and the Bingo Hall are still open.
