Michael Jackson 1958-2009

So to clarify, who's presenting each coverage? Given this is a concert as well as news - how is it going to play out?

Kay Burley presenting Sky News/HD coverage (on Arts as well?)
Huw Edwards for the BBC/HD?
MTV....?

(Apologies if this has already been clarified earlier in the thread)

I doubt if Huw will be there for the BBC, he did the ten last night-maybe Emily?

EastEnders

CBBC posted:
we know soaps don't reflect real life literally by the fact that Jack Duckworth won on the 1993 grand national Confused

it was a nice touch, guess too much would have look silly as well

don't rmember any of them mentioning Diana's death or the Queen Mum's though

Probably because EastEnders is exported to an international market, and some people might not understand what those events were, yet Michael Jackson is an international superstar known all over the world, so it would make sense to put that in there.

Sorry, are we talking about the same Diana? Up until her death there was a worldwide media frenzy and the queen mum is the queen mum! They're just as famous if not more than Jacko

Michael Jackson 1958-2009

Why are Sky STILL reporting this as 'Breaking News'?

I mean, if the autopsy is reportedly going to take 6 to 8 days....

I thought it was 6-8 weeks?

Oh dear god!!! BBC News have now gone to see fans moonwalking in London!

Maybe he'll come back in 3 days? The jokes have been flying allday

Coronation Street

I was watching BBC breakfast this morning and the actress who played Sunita was on and she revealed she's coming back, I think she said September but not sure-I'm sure the interview will be on the BBC website somewhere

Did anyone else notice that the price of all drinks in the rovers seem to be £2.50 tonight?

BBC National News: Presentation

is it just me or is the 6 becoming more and more like the 1? Maybe it was just because Louise Minchin is presenting tonight but it felt quite dumbed down at the opening, it seemed like a magazine show once Louise started talking. Has anyone else noticed this?

BBC Breakfast

On a side note interesting to see interaction between the news channel presenters and Bill/Kate at 8.30 today- they had been discussing a story about attraction through smell just beforehand, and when the usual plug for the news channel starting came up, Simon McCoy was clearly doing a smelling uder the arms action, followed by Simon and Rachel both waving to camera when Kate reffered to them. First time I've seen the news channel presenters acknowledge the plug by Breakfast.

I remember when they did a bit about hugging just before 8.30, I think it was Bill and Louise and when they showed the NC there was Simon and Carrie hugging away and as they cut away from breakfast Bill and Louise were hugging aswell. There's also been many an occasion where we've seen Simon getting his make-up done and Carrie pointing and laughing

Coronation Street

must say, amazing how well Michelle's dress matched Luke's kitchen! I'm getting fed up of John-who cares! Also, Tina needs to cheer up a bit!!!

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

I think the time has come for Mr Simon McCoy to be knighted. The deadpan way in which he read the headline this morning about a certain MP 'claiming expenses for an island for his duck pond' was delivered with such comedic timing that it made me roll with laughter.

The man is simply a legend.

AGREED - He's brilliant with Carrie.

He also got up from the desk this morning, walked over to Sally Nugent who was reading the sport and handed her a written apology from Carrie about some shouting that could be heard earlier between McCoy and Gracie. Great viewing.

Haha brilliant, anyone got the video?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the weather mistake. We got Darren Bett's forecast at 9.30, all fine then at 10 we got Rob McElwee's forecast from last night. Oops!

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

Is it really necessary to have both Olly Foster AND James Pearce outside Stamdord bridge? Olly was on at 10.25ish and James was there 5 minutes later. What's the point in that? Surely you only need one?

BBC National News: Presentation

The text on the second line of the lower-third straps seems to be smaller on tonight's Ten, like some of the local news programmes and unlike the usual oversized News 24 style. Looks much tidier.

I noticed that the text seemed different as well but appears to be back to normal on the news channel now
