Anglia Television Continuity

John posted:
According to another forum, BBC Radio Norfolk is to make a programme about regional continuity to be broadcast over Christmas. It will apparently feature Katie Glass, Helen McDermott, David Clayton and Tom Edwards.

For anyone that's interested, the programme is entitled "Coming Up Next" and will be broadcast on BBC Radio Norfolk at 6pm on New Year's Eve (Monday 31st December 2012).

(I guess the programme will be available to listen again for around a week after broadcast through the BBC iPlayer Radio service).

Anglia/East of England News Discussion

Shame I didn't see any reference on the Full Norwich programme, but as I said I didn't give my full attention tonight. But glad that was the region, good choice! Who presented?

Jonathan Park and Janine Machin were the presenters on the fully split West programme from Cambridge.

And on the East programme from Norwich there was a brief mention of the Sandy Heath transmitter's analogue shutdown in the 'Close Up' segment.

Anglia/East of England News Discussion

Today (Friday 14 January), was Rachel Mackley's last appearance as weather presenter on 'Anglia Tonight'.

If you have been looking at the 'New Meridian, BBC South & South East Thread' recently, you may already know that she is joining BBC South East as their new weather presenter (look for Post #1372, on the webpage linked below):

5 News

Who's been reading the Five News updates the last couple of nights? A young woman - redhead. Anyone know? I've never caught her introducing herself at the start each bulletin.

It's former ITV Anglia news reporter Louise Beale, who had a short spell in late 2009 as a reporter at Sky News. I think she left Anglia around mid-august time last year.

CNN International & Domestic

Don't know if anyone is already aware of this as I would guess that most UK viewers watch CNN International via Sky, cable or Freeview, but the DTH (direct-to-home) satellite transmission in Europe via analogue on Astra (19.2° East) of the channel is ending, as of March 31.

BBC Cambridge New Premises and Look East Revamp

Coincidentally, as the Cambridge-based operation is about to move premises, the main studio (at The Forum in Norwich), is having a revamp.

Whilst the work is going on there, Look East will be coming from a temporary studio (in a corner of the newsroom) for a week or so.

The NEW Central West and BBC Midlands thread

I'm surprised that no-one on this thread has mentioned the recent tv advert for the mobile phone operator Orange, relating to "Monkey", their new mobile tariff for Pay As You Go music lovers, as the advert features former ITV Central weather presenter Emma Jesson:

New Look Five?

Looks as though there's another management shake-up at Five, the channel's director of programmes Ben Gale is leaving after six months in the job, to be replaced by Sky's Richard Woolfe (according to Digital Spy):

The Regional News Christmas Tree Thread

little white dot posted:

Who were the first region to do this? Was it Anglia with both edtions based in Norwich?

Indeed. Anglia West has never (AFAIK) been based in a studio within its own sub-region!

Incidentally, steering things back onto the topic of Christmas Trees in this thread, I should point out that Anglia News seems to have a tree in the pan-regional bulletins during GMTV, but there's no tree on the East studio set during the sub-regional bulletins and Anglia Tonight. I would guess it's the same on the West studio set too.
