Discusses whther resignation would be appropriate

Michael Portillo is a candidate for chairman, not DG...see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/tv_and_radio/3441813.stm
Ok thanks. I had not seen that report. Still think that he'd do a good job in EITHER role - I hope that that Heggessey woman doesn't get a look in.

A political appointment from the opposition party - would be very useful in negotiations for the charter renewal.
Any disagreements would then be in the open and the opposition probably couldn't raise any major objections to his appointment.
Probably many of you would disagree - who do you see in this critical role.
(I have posted this thread on DS as well)

It appears that yesterday he offered his resignation hoping that it would not be accepted. When the Board of Governors met this morning they voted to accept the offered resignation.
So he pushed at the exit door and it was opened for him.

Well according to News24 the Dyke being sacked story is not technically correct. It appears that yesterday he offered his resignation hoping that it would not be accepted. When the Board of Governors met this morning they voted to accept the offered resignation.
So he pushed at the exit door and it was opened for him.

It's now nothing more than a National TV network with limited regional programmes (fitted in as and when) now.

Anyone got a few quid to start a fund to bid?
Ofcom reviews ITV renewals & public service obligations
I tend to agree with the One ITV renewal concept - however they'll go through the ropes and see if anyone else will have the guts to apply for one or more regions.Anyone got a few quid to start a fund to bid?

Cinema's are partially to blame for this by raising the auditorium lighting before the credits finish and the audience rushes for the exit.
Actors revolt against rushed credits
I wholeheartedly agree with Equity and Bectu on this. If someone has done the work on a TV programme or Feature film they should be credited in full. There's no excuse really if the broadcaster wants to promote a forthcoming programme they should do it at the end of the credits of the ending programme.Cinema's are partially to blame for this by raising the auditorium lighting before the credits finish and the audience rushes for the exit.

Don't usually see errors like that in a BBC Documentary.
Graphic Error
In a graphic covering the Battle of Britain, Luxembourg which had been occupied some twelve months and more before the Battle was shown in the same colour as Switzerland. Indicating that it was neutral territory.Don't usually see errors like that in a BBC Documentary.
