Simon McCoy

Maybe he has untaken holiday/TOIL. Maybe he is retiring, (he's 60 in October according to WiKi) Maybe he's just had enough of telly.

His wife/partner is a BBC presenter in Plymouth so maybe that's a factor too

They separated he is now is a relationship with emma samms

I saw the behind the scenes video of her studio from home. Impressive is all I can say

I think they should use a real background again when lockdown eases. I think it's due a refresh in colour scheme/studio imo

Saturday Mash-Up returns!

Saturday Mash-Up is returning. Does anyone think that How many things in a thing will return? (I know musical toilets got removed too but that's due to covid, I guess they could bring it back though) Will anyone else be watching it to see how it goes?

It wasn't listed to be shown 16 January? Unless you've been give the wrong date?

BBC News this Christmas - impact of cuts & Covid

An overall appalling commitment to News from the BBC over the Xmas period. I fathom why on earth Jane Hill was in there until almost midnight last night and Clive is there tonight for a bulletin probably watched by nobody.

Does anyone remember the golden years when Xmas day bulletins were massive ratings hits?

This post is obviously dripping with sarcasm. However, the point about Jane Hill and Clive Myrie being brought in to read 90 second afternoon summaries on BBC 1, with 6 - 7 hours then until they are required to read the 10 minute BBC 1 late bulletin, that's on so late the majority of viewers will be in bed, is a valid one. The 90 second news summary could just of easily been done by the on-duty NC presenter.
Do BBC News managers think that people will instantly switch off if they see an 'unfamiliar' NC face on a BBC 1 news summary/bulletin?

Jane hill did do the 8-9pm shift on Christmas day as well as BBC 1 updates

BBC News this Christmas - impact of cuts & Covid

Yeah there seems to be a lot of presenters being used today compared to previous years - especially since they're simulcasting all day today.

Today's lineup:

1-6am - Freya Cole
6-10am - Tim Willcox
10-2pm - Reeta Chakrabarti
2-4pm - Shaun Ley
4-8pm - Karin G
8-9pm - Jane Hill
9-?pm - Lucy Grey

Just checked last year's presenters the only difference to this year's, is the shift timings and they didn't bring in an extra presenter for the main news on bbc 1.

BBC News this Christmas - impact of cuts & Covid

They seem to be using studio E all day. Also I don't think they used this many news presenters last Christmas day. I'm sure it was 4 hours a shift starting from
midday.

I miss the interaction between the news presenter and the weather presenter especially when Simon is on.

The BBC World News Thread

Can’t say I’ve noticed anything either, I’ve only watched outside source and the 8pm bulletin though.
Edit: found this shot on the 6 which is a bit odd(apologies about the quality)
It was also used on the 10.

Same report on the 10 had the same shot
