Steve Rider set for move to ITV ?

Jim is definately off given the send-off he got at the end of today's GP. Also, it seems certain that Steve Rider is miving across, given that Jim was talking about new "Runners and Riders " for next season...

Who could replace Jenny at HTV?

Uncle Bruce posted:
Both me and Nick have already told you who has got the job, though ... There's not been any official confirmation, but trust me, it IS Lisa Aziz.

They are probably waiting for the Evening Post to tell them. Last night they were still speculating between Susan Osmand, Lisa Aziz and Sherrie Eugene.

Points West

Thanks Bruce/Nick - haven't seen a 18:30 show for months so missed any announcement.

Temporary set seems a bit cramped so far...

Points West

Quick question on a Points West theme...

Does anyone know if the studio is being refitted this weekend? The weekend bulletins have come from a strange temporary area (grey sofa in front of a brick wall with some TVs on). The Politics Show at lunchtime was from the usual studio, but the lack of Sunday papers suggested that it could have been prerecorded...

BBC 9 O'clock News

BBC WORLD posted:
Who were the presenters on the Nine during the election 97 broadcasts? I can vaguely recall Jill Dando at some point sitting on an island desk with the other news of the day, whilst the anchor led with election news.

This could have been the 1992 election where (I think) the studio was totally different for the election campaign, rather than just a slight revamp. As you say there was a main anchor for the election news and a second anchor (at a seperate desk) for the rest of the news of the day.

The floods are affecting a number of studio's and I understand it is quite serious in Newsnight's one. Luckily there is a news studio that isn't on the ground floor that Newsnight can use ... will of course look different. Also imagine trying to do lots of guests on the World set - that wouldn't work would it.

I guess we are talking about the BBC Three news set then?

Good, because I casn't imagine it being shown on ITV - It would ruin it!

Well, I don't think that's very fair. ITV have shown that they are extremely capable in their sports presentation - just look at the massive improvements in F1 coverage over the bad old days when the BBC had it.

Hmmm (going slightly off topic)

Yes, the actual analysis has been improved, but I'd rather not go missing large chunks of the race (and go scrambling to Five Live) whilst ITV goes to the adverts.

Having said that, watching the Candian GP on TF1 in France last week they packed up and went on to the news with 10+ laps to go, just assuming that Schumacher would win. Thankfully ITV aren't THAT bad yet...

BBC Points West's Revamp

Have the presenting team been "trendied-up" with the introduction of the new set? I only ask as every time I have caught it since the new set was introduced Chris seemes to be wearing the same trendy pink and purple tie (and possibly the same shirt to go with it).

Mrs Vacher must be busy with the washing!

D-Day anniversary coverage

Brekkie Boy posted:
Good programme, but they didn't have as much fun with it as the Martin Lewis Christmas / Easter bulletins.

Didn't either ITV or the BBC do something similar 10 yrs ago?

The BBC did News 44 10 years ago, with Sue Lawley presenting news reports from the time (I think a mixture of radio reports with pictures added and maybe some new ones).

BBC Points West's Revamp

This must be a fairly major change for them to be out of the studio for 10 days. I seem to recall that the move to the corporate look was done in 4-5 days when they went out on location for the main programme and had the bulletins from the newsroom. There also was a handy webcam to monitor the changes on - nothing like that this time though...

Now that will be interesting, a set with no desk.

I have a question. The backdrop of Bristol City Centre on Points West, is it a live generated image or a recorded image and is it a green screen?

I believe it is live. If not it gets very well matched with the weather, light etc in Bristol!

Tetris

Was it only on Telewest that it switched to showing Coupling for a minute towards the end, or did this happen to anyone else?
